Thanks for clearing that up for me.

nope, a mail in flash with your list of mods will do the trick. although a custom tune will get you more power, it is more expensive

this is exactly why the ''manifold test'' conducted by DB might have been slightly flawed. When I install new parts and get a custom tune, the mapper does not just adjust the AFR to its previous level and call it a day...

If u ever plan on going for a larger turbo thats not a bolt on turbo, then dont touch the manifold being u will have to replace it anyway. But if u r staying stock turbo or evo green, somthing like that then porting the manifold would help. But yes do cams b4 your front mount!!

TBE exhaust, Cams and then a good mail-in flash will give you great initial gains.. If you are looking for greater numbers with additional bolt-ons, then a custom tune should accompany right afterwards.. Good luck

Enjoy the car as it is..........feel the power it has first as virgin. Save some flow up and drop several mods in it. that way you can really feel a diff. If not you may never know or remember just how truely amazing the Evo really is. It is the of God. I say when tthe time comes you should:

Cam work
intake/hard pipes
TBE(TurboXs)(10.5/o2 housing/Manifold)I did mine and I love the power and sound
Boost controller with gauges to have alittle fun
Turbo timer to cool the turbo
Clutch street disc if your not racing all the time 2900
Oh and upgrade the BOV to a MR nine metal one.
And last but not least......a reflash.......
No since in doing alittle here alittle there and having to flash multiple times. Just save up till you have all the mods drop it in and flash....... Thats my suggestion, not alot agree with it.

Will the OEM fuel pump and injectors be enough for cams or will you need to upgrade?

Also, will the ECU in stock form throw a CEL with a set of cams (I'm talking street cams here)?

AMS did a test on a VIII and IX fuel pump and this is what they found out.....(We learned a few interesting things, especially with the EVO VIII & IX pumps. The EVO VIII pump has a pressure relief valve that opens up at around 65-68psi and the flow output drops dramatically after that, eventually going to zero flow around 75-80psi. The IX pump flows a little more than the VIII pump at lower pressures but doesn't dump the flow at higher pressures. That's the reason you can make decent power at higher boost levels with the IX pump )

upgrade the pump for sure.

if you plan on going full boltons + cams, it might be a good idea to upgrade the injectors as well - especially if you have to use lower octane gas as you will need to run richer.

Although many say that you dont need to upgrade the injectors, my mapper recommended an upgrade with the last set of mods I am gonna install. I am currently using stock injectors with cosworth cams at around 400bhp, but will upgrade to 680cc at the same time I install the intercooler, upper ic pipe, manifold and intake (modified stock box)... The stock injectors should totally max out at 420bhp.
