hood vent removed....is it safe?

i removed my hood vent today in hopes that i could give the motor some more fresh air and a little more room to breath and let some hot air out....My question to the guys with the removed hood vent is....is it safe with a cone filter as far as water getting in the engine bay....or is it perfectly safe during rainy driving.....thanks in advance guys

+1 for Jakeg97's input.

There are other threads on here that have discussed this in length, with some pretty knowledgeable people chiming in. Most agreed that engine heat dissipates better with the hood vent in place than without it. I know, seems counter intuitive, but you can search for the threads if you want to understand it. If you're on the track then you're better off with it in place. The exposed parts are going to get wet with or without it in place, so that isn't a factor.

The vent looks as if it were designed to pull air out. It probably helps. I wish i could read japanese because then i could read my hyper rev book it has a picture of the hood vent and some details about it. oh well
