SAFC Or ECU Flash?

Well im new to the whole preformance thing... So im trying not to get screwed, I have a few Mods on my evo. But i wanna know whats better.
Should I get my safc installed and then get tunned or get my ecu flashed?
I dont know... I also have a AVCR not installed. So should I also put that in?
And can I push about 20PSI with
3 Inch Turbo Back Exhasut<br>
AEM Turbo Intake<br>
AMS Upper and Lower IC Pipes<br>
right now I have a manual boost controller which is dialed in about 15-17 Pounds.

Please give me some imput.

Ohh and if anyone know what a P0500 engin code means plase help out on that as well... I threw that when a threw a P0235 I belive the engin overboost code.

Thanks

man, you're running less boost than stock! yes, you can run 20psi safely. with a tune, i've seen IX's run 24-25 on 93. and a flash is FAR superior to an AFC. i don't like the AVCR much, PITA to set up. i stick to manuals. hallman and forge are the best for the evo.

Okay cuz thats what I hear. So well now I have to find a good place in town or around that can flash me... What all will need to be done when I get flashed? I haear i have to uppgrade my fuel pump to a 255LPH. so yeah im okay with that. and ill most likey do a flash and get up to 25PSI but will the Fuel cut still be an issue with a flash?

You will need to install a high flow fuel pump (Go with Walbro). Don't just trust anyone to tune your ECU, find someone with a good reputation.

I have heard that TTP-Engineering in Florida does really good tunes, plus if you have a laptop and the cable they can do it by email.

There's no point in running an AVCR or SAFC. That's what the flash is for.

i would install the afc(if u have it all ready) and get a flash, and u can use the afc as a secondary map for race gas, then you can run 25 26 27 pounds..

thats funny a post i can directly relate to. i had the same dilemma, as you can see from my signature i opted for the flash. it was a little bit more expensive but it doesnt only configure your air/fuel, you get fuel cut defencer, and my favorite two-step launch control. as far as the avc-r, it is outstanding! it took me a couple of hours (start as soon as daylight permits) but it was worth it. make sure that the comm port and NO/NC port are configured correctly to what kind of wastegate you have (stock is internal). it takes a little time to tune but its worth it. instead of a mbc which you have to tune differently for weather, also regulates its own duty learn cycle to hold you at a constant boost. daily drive for me is 18psi race 25psi just one click away. congrats good choice of ebc
