I bought the 04 RS for 26K. Now with the 9K I have left over I can get the full race twinscroll 40R and the rest of the supporting mods. Now I have a quick spooling 700+Whp Evo for the price of the MR.

You tell me whats worth it. (Bring it on and don't lie to yourself)

70K still rollin stock clutch. and the windows and door locks I got used to. its not that big of a deal.

Yeah you'd even have extra money to get electronic windows and locks.

I think the GSR is the best choice cause it's the middle and gives you an intermediate. The MR is expensive and although the suspension is better you'd probably upgrade it anyways. I personally wouldn't want to not have power windows/locks etc. but then again mine is a daily driver. just my 2 cents

There are some of us who do not modify our cars. In my case, I wanted to get GSR with SSL, but couldn't find it in my area. I looked at RS, SE, and MR and got MR because I won't be adding anything else.

I'd rather have stock MR with warranty than 700+whp RS without warranty. We all have different ways of enjoying our cars, and who's to say what's worth what? If you like your 700+whp RS, then that's the best car for you. I like my stock MR with additional gear and warranty, and I feel that it's the best choice for me. And I'm not lying.

Just because we drive Evo, that doesn't mean we have to race it. Some of us use it as a normal car, and like to occasionaly go fast on twisty road. Another word, it's one way of enjoying our Evo to modify it, and make it go fast, but keeping it stock is one way as well. And if you are planning to keep it fairly stock, MR would be the best, I think. Just my opinion.

In your case you right. But most of evo owners will or already modifyed they cars. Evo is a tuner car. Won't matter what reason you are modifying it. Race -show what ever. Almost every one get the evo and think they never or just a little they will modify it...
And that is one of the reason why the RS is the best choice. Also that is why every where on the world the RS has more trim level.

So wait...if I have an MR, I can't mod it?

No offense, but just because some folks have money to buy all the visual goodies AND upgrade doesn't mean they're lying to themselves about which one they want. I could just as easily accuse all RS owners of being cheap/broke and getting the low-end Evo because they could not afford a better one. It's harsh, but why put down those that spent a little more?

Besides, everyone that buys an Evo gets these insane dreams of upgrading to a 7, 8, 900hp+ beast and few ever do (but I'm not saying no one does!). The reason for that is because there's a lot more involved than just slapping on a bigger turbo and peeling out. All these arguments against the MR are made "down the line" and "when you start modding" etc etc. Trust me, when you start making those kinds of numbers it won't really matter if you paid a little bit more for the visual goodies.

If you do in fact have a 700hp RS, sweet! I'd love to check it out. But if you've just made a few mods like the majority of folks on this board, then what's the point of denying yourself a few amenities? And why argue what a person "could" have? All Evo owners could reach the same point.

Rather than arguing what I could have some day, here's what I do have:

A gorgeous Evo IX MR with the visual package (aka SE), gauge cluster, bilsteins, vortex generator, BBS wheels, red-stitched Recaro seats, and a smooth shifting 6 speed perfect for road and track courses (which the Evo was built for). It is shiny and sexy as hell, and hopefully by next Saturday the Buschur install will be complete and I can show off my dyno results.

What could I have? Oooh boy, the sky's the limit!

HA HA HA

Funny thing is when you drive the car you add miles. when you add miles the warrenty dissapears. So what you really want is an everlasting ghost that lets you sleep easy at night. And we all know the how great the warrenty is. So I dont see the relevence. I have 70K on stock clutch. not worried about the car. Dont you have faith in your purchase in your driveway. So go ahead and have something that vanishes I'll have 700@the wheels.

Do you actually have 700? As I mentioned in my previous post, plenty of people get the RS with dreams of having such power, but never bother getting there.

Bottom line the evo is what a (TRACK) Car meant for racing. And the evo model positioned to take advantage of all the Drivers out there is the RS. Thats Y they dont give you anything you dont need for the track. (cept ac). Same power less weight equals faster in a straight line stock for stock for stock. And 9K to customize till your hearts content (well almost) If I wanted a comfy car i wouldnt get an econobox on c r a c k.

Which EVO...
The MR is the best deal if you can get it right. That 6spd is like shifting greese...the only smoother I have driven is a shortened Porsche that clicked into the detents with only 10mm movement from N, amazing! EVO MR ...Loaded w/ warrantee, and a 6spd comparable to $100k car...just wish it had the Infinity w/SUB...I know you can't get the sunroof for obvious reasons, but why not get the lexan or CF roof from AMS then!!! My vote goes for the MR in WW for sure, even white looks evil especially the SE.

Then there's the X....hmmm? It already has all that with a sick tranny and NAV...with warantee...Hurry up Mitsu...my house is almost done I think I can HE it on the fin. side =)...YEah!

Fair enough, and I agree if you know for certain you're taking it to the track, or will possibly gut it to save weight, the RS is the way to go.

My argument is that many people buy an RS, cheer about their potential for raw power, and then do the same mods as everyone else. I know we all dream of owning 800hp beasts, but for the average person that's not going to happen. So instead of having a cheaper car that's missing a lot of fun stuff and dreaming of what it could be, I'd rather have the better model right off the bat.

So what you are saying is that you have 700+ whp with stock clutch? Wow! That's the first I've ever heard!

Yes, my warranty will expire as I drive my Evo. But do you think all the parts you put into your Evo will last forever? If you think they do, then you may want to study a little more about upgrades. They do shorten lives of cars, especially if you have the power you claim you do.

And yes, I do want something that lets me sleep at night. What is wrong with that? Just like I have life insurance and 401K. These things are called security!! I don't quite get rest ofyour post. Have faith in my purchase? Are you trying to tell me that I should believe my Evo will not need warranty? Well, I love my Evo, but I still want security. If that makes me a loser, then I probably am.

Like I said, we all love our Evos. RS, GSR, SE, or MR, we love our Evos. So why do we need to be insulting other trims? We all have different needs and wants.
I like my MR, and Rane does, too. I envy GSR with SSL sometimes, but I still like my MR the best. That doesn't mean MR is the best trim for everyone, for we all have different wants and needs. It is pretty childish to say who's Evo is better than whose. My Evo is the best Evo, and I'm sure everyone feels the same way.

And I saw someone saying most of Evo owners will upgrade. I recently came across with this pole.

http://www.norcalevo.net/index.php?o...k=results&id=1

40% of 06 owners who participated said they will not mod their cars, and 40.9% said they would. rest was undecided. So when I hear something like, "Most of Evo owners modify their cars." I would have to say it's overstating it.
