I really want to pick up an EVOIX. Can I afford it?

Well I am down to my last month of my current lease on my Acura TL 6MT. I fell in love while driving an IXSE a few months ago. I understand there are no lease offers on this vehicle. Will I be able to afford this? I need to do $0 down and get my payments around $450 a month. Can someone tell me (and be blunt!) if I am wasting my time even considering this car as an option.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick response! Its a shame because I love the car but things are tight on money and cant break the $500 mark. Guess I will either extend my lease or buy my current car!! Maybe wait for the new body style because maybe a lease will be available.

I will put it like this. My car in 2003 I bought for 29300.00 plus taxes. I financed zero down at a nice rate of 4.9% for 72 months. My payment was 489.00 per month. Find yourself a quality used one, or a dealer that is throwing a car away and you might get lucky.....if you have good credit.

I have awesome credit, so I am not worried about that. Now I am thinking maybe I should go check out the dealers!

when did you get the Mr? they are more expensive as well. I would go with an SE that I figured I could get one for a really good price at this time. The MR's are about $5k more correct? Give or take.

$675 per month, no money down, 5.9% interest for my IX MR SE. You get what you pay for with the Evo. The Evo is an agile monster that you're willing to spend most of your paycheck for and not care because it's better than any car you can afford.

You have a TL so I guess you can afford it.

here's my bills for the Evo only:
$575 a month for the car.
$200 insurance
around $150 a month for gas.
$40 for oil every 4k.
$10 for oil filter.
and some other maintenance stuff.

Well i pay $528 a month for my lease with my Acura. The wife wanted to cut down on monthly payments on a car because we both feel that is pretty high for a lease at lease. I am sold on the EVO but I need my payments around $450 that is why I have been lurking around these forums for the past few months. Everyone on here has been extremelly helpful!

a big downpayment . just make sure you really want an Evo and that you know why you want it or what you'll do to it because it can be a pain. its a pain for me sometimes with the bills but since i want it bad, im working for it.

You can't only figure the price of the car out. You need to look into how much sales tax you'll have to pay and what type of financing you have. And if you use a legit insurance company expect your insurance to go up, especially if you've had any tickets.

I got my '05 GSR at around invoice with $1500 down, no sales tax, and 0% interest and my payments are only a little under $500 a month.

$0 down and $450 a month is not going to happen! I put $10k down on my Rs and I am paying around $375 a month for 4 years.

If you can't break the 500$ mark you're simply not financially ready for this car, I'm sorry but that's the truth. You're not calculating maintenace. Tires burn up fast especially stock ones, expect to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles on the advan's. Brakes and rotors will need to be replaced especially with spirited driving. Oil Changes, and the higher cost of buying premium fuel. And you better bet you'll want more money to mod the car. Bottom line is.. You're just not ready.. Give it time.. If you really want an evo Now. consider a used 03 from 19k - 22k depending on miles and mods. You'll get the same exact thrill without breaking the bank.. Good luck.

You can go into the dealer and say, "I only want to pay 450 a month on this car." They will most likely shoot you down unless you put some money down. I pay 650, zero percent interest, zero down, 5 years. on my '05MR. Good luck talking them down on an SE, salesmen now are hard*sses. If you are looking to lease a vehicle, don't do it on an Evo, a true enthusiasts will own it out right. Leasing is for luxury cars.
