He didn't say a tune won't make a difference. This guy is already tuned. He has a terrible BOV and awful MBC plus a remote tune from someone who lives at sea level and uses 93 despite this car being at 6000' and on 91. Add in the fact that I only made 300whp on a Dynojet with bolt-ons/cams/alky/26psi, and this guy is going to be very disappointed.

so let me get this straight, an evo 8 comes stock with about 252whp (correct me if i'm wrong) and with 3 inch turbo back exhaust, intake, tune and about 3 more pounds of boost im only getting 40 whp (if im lucky??)

Wow maybe I'll re-consider if the evo is worth keeping!

I don't see where you think I said a tune wouldn't make a difference. I said he only has three HP mods, the tune being one of them.

Where are you getting these numbers? What kind of dyno, what kind of gas, what elevation? Unless you had your car baselined, there is no what of telling what kind of gains you'll have. You're comparing your car to a completely different car.

I had my 8 (05 w/ 10.5) baselined on a Mustang dyno and it spit out something like 235whp. The guys there said it was a healthy number. I got a BR TBE w/ hf cat, drop in filter, and tuned by Dynoflash. I had the car put back on the EXACT same dyno, exactly one year later from the baseline (just to try and get temps and weather conditions the same) with nothing else done to it and it put something like 265whp.

252 seems pretty high even on a dynojet with 91oct. Knowing what dyno your using will help us make a better questimate. If your using a Mustang Dyno, I'd guess 240 - 250. On a dynojet, I'd guess 260 - 270. This takes into account your 91oct...

I remember what 263 felt like and it wasn't bad at all. Why would you even consider getting rid of your Evo just because you made less then 300whp on a 4 cylinder? I'd say that's pretty darn impressive plus you still have a lot more you can do to get that number higher. Don't get frustrated!

I think the evo responds great to mods. I have 272 cams, 3" tbe w/ tp, o2 housing, fuel rail, fuel pump, exedy twin disc clutch, and made 299 on a dynapak on 93 oct. all that on a stock map. So i'd have to say it's doing pretty good w/o a flash.

Well you should have known that evo is very mod-friendly. And if you're expecting insane number with just 3 power mods, then sell the evo and go find another car that will respond better (good luck by the way). Maybe the new owner will appreciate what he's got more than you do

i made 300 wheel horsepower when i hade 3in tbe and and intake and got a tune. (jestr) so i dont see why you wouldnt get that or maybe even a little more.... 310 isnt completely out of the question. cause when i was done, i still ran rich meaning there was room to improve.

Hey, if you really want to see your numbers go up, i would go get a tune. Otherwise, dont expect much past 300whp if that. Get a tune and that should put you around 320-330.
