Famous PO300 code
What happens when you disconnect your knock sensor? Because(especially on '03 Evos) the PO300 code is common and it seems like its in the tranny when in 5th gear and picks up a certain harmonic.
issued a TSB on this issue. if you get the P0300 while cruzing in 5th gear, then this fix will be covered under your emissions warrantee (80k miles). Basically
discovered that it is possible to get the right harmonics in 5th gear. the rebuild should be covered under warrantee as far as I know.I don't know the TSB number, I'll leave it to you to find out if you are so inclined.

then I loose my tune. For the tranny build it won't do any good since I have aftermarket parts and you know how
is. For someone to really get
to do the job, your car must be 100% stock. Also since, I would say 90% of the '03(which I have) is the tranny shaft, why not drive with the knock sensor disconnected?
It's a TSB dependant on your version of ECU, it happens not because of your mods. If you have a certain version ecu it's liable to get the input shaft/5th gear replaced under warranty, (I believe version 14+ requires actual mechanical change, and version 13 is just a flash). That's what they check for when you bring it into Mitsu. My friend had the same issue, he had a version 14 ROM and turns out he's out of his warrantee so he's going to have a local shop replace the parts. He had originally thought it was his quartermaster twin disc clutch that was causing the misfire codes (very very chattery clutch).
For the PO300 Random misfire code...
If you got the factory reflash already, and no other problem can be found, its the **input shaft and 5th gear assembly**
Something happens with the teeth on the gear/shaft that makes the ECU thinks theres a misfire, throwing the P0300. Get the reflash done if you havent. If the problem remains, your transmission is getting overhauled. Should be covered for an extended period since its a warranty/TSB item.
I've done one of these. I believe it applies from year 2003 to 2005, and if I remember right 5spd only.

I asked Jon at TRE about this and his answer for the P0300 is because the input shaft and 5th gearset are a little loose from the factory. They wobble just a little bit and that noise is what is setting off the code. I had P0300 every day for the last 1.5 years and once I installed my new TRE trans I haven't had any more issues with it.
when does the warranty run out for the input thing? is that covered under the 3 yr-36000 mile section? and if I keep running my Evo with this code can it cause damage in the near or distance future or nether?
