Famous PO300 code

Well guys my check engine light came on today and it was the wonderful PO300 code. My car has cams, fuel pump, intake, exhaust, and flash would any of this cause this code to come on? The car has about 55,000 miles on it what do you guys suggest to fix the problem. Also is it safe to drive the car anywhere or should I not get on it or what. I did the research and it looks like several guys have had this code come on and their still driving.

Buy yourself a "OBD II Code reader" and take the code out. This won't be the last code that you will see come up from your car, sorry man, but you will just have to get use to some of these codes. The code you have is a "Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected". I've gotten this code before. You should be O.K. to drive your car.

BR7ES gapped to .026 really helped the frequency of this code. I switched from the BPR7ES when I did my cams, springs, and retainers

Plus a quality tune in the car

No more code now after 20k or so "KNOCKS WOOD"

I'm assuming mine came on from the 280's. Read up on it and it says it comes on because of engine noise ie. cams or tranny noise. My idle is quite lumpy i might add. haha i had the code cleared, then the next day it came back. Is there a way you can just delete it out of the ecu by flashing? Been trying to contact john but haven't gotten a response yet.

My idle is lumpy I guess thats what all 272s sound like but when the cams first got installed I through a code about my cam shaft sensor. I dont remember exactly what is was though, but I had it cleared and it never came back. My Service Engine Soon light is always on because of my exhaust system and it always throws the Cat. Converter code, well because I dont have a cat or a resnator. Im thinking it might be because my plugs need to be chaged or maybe it is because of the noise from the cams (never heard that before but I dont but it pass a evo)

I had the very same problem with the P0300 code. I took my car to the Mitsu dealer I used to work for, and my buddy reflashed the ecu per a TSB from Mitsu. I am happy to say the light has not come back on since. Unfortunately if you dont have a friend that can overlook your mods, than you may have to pay for it.

Since you and others already have the tsb flash for the p0300 code from the dealer, wouldn't most if not all of the top tuners have this fix? Seems as though this solution should be integrated into every aftermarket flash that a tuner completes.

I had the same issue until I had my transmission built by TRE. So take that for what it's worth.

Just don't get on it while it's actually misfiring/vibrating. Let go of the gas (it goes away), then step on it if need be. At WOT, it's fine right. I've had the code for the past year also. It's gone away some since I put in some NGK BR8ES plugs gapped at .024. I get it once in a while from time to time, but not so often as I did before.

You can invest in an ignition amplifier, but they are pretty pricey -- HKS DLII ($450) or Sun Hyperforce ($300).

If you search more, you'll probably find a post that I read about someone actually having their tuner lower the knock sensor sensativity. Honestly, I read it on here.

Good luck. As the prior post stated...start with a refresh of plugs.

Wondering if there is yet a fix for this tedious CEL.

I usually got it bad in 5th gear cruising. I would get the code almost daily. I had Mitsu flash it...no good. I had AMS flash it with a fix that is suppose to be better than the one. Also had my trans and transfer case rebuilt. Since then I've had it one time in 3 months.
