I'd say if you're living on campus, then it might not be a good car. I think it's best to wait a year or two to get a feel for the campus and then decide if you feel it's safe enough to park an Evo at all day/night. Personally if I lived on campus, I would not have gotten mine because too many cars were having windows busted etc. at night, especially on the weekends. This isn't the kind of thing you're going to know until you've spent time on the campus though

If your like me and very **** about keeping your car in pristine condition then I would wait until your out of college but if you dont care and have the attitude that, " Its just a car" and dont care if its mint or not. Go for it.

The EVO definitely makes for a good college car. Fast, fun, and it even has a backseat to lug all that dirty laundry home to mom!

But be warned... a nice car on campus will get fubared by drunks and punks. The guy above me summed it up best--> If you're **** about your car, get a beater for the college years. If you don't mind the dings and dents, get the EVO.

I say wait until school is over, or at least until sophmore year when you can get an apartment with a garage.
I got my Evo freshmen year in college I go to UTSA over here in San Antonio and I swear people will not leave me alone. "Hey man is that your evo", "Hey man what you do to it", " Hey man you wanna join my club you race right". lol I swear some people go out of their way to stop me either when I am trying to leave campus or go to my class.

Thats the only problem I have at my campus people just wont leave me alone lol that and I have been hit before by some random person in the parking lot when I was in class.

It all depends if you can make the payments and keep up the car if you can do that byself or even with the help or your parents I say go for it.

It doesn't matter when is the best time to get the car, keying and door dings can happen anywhere at anytime. If you think you are ready to handle the machine then go for it.

That may be true but financially speaking college students aren't well known for having deep pocket books. I'd say think carefully about the maintenance and fuel required for a toy like the Evo carefully before considering a purchase.

One thing not mentioned was campus police, they followed me around constantly, much worse than normal cops. The parking lot was a gauntlet of drunks and people that don't care about their cars, so be warned. I'd wait a little while and see how the campus is.

It depends on how many kids on your campus and how the parking situation is.

If you can and you really want an Evo get the Evo and a Nice beater or scooter to go to school in. I took my Evo to school once and got a good door ding in it. I never took it back to school. I would drive my truck or BMW most of the time or my brothers Trooper. All three of the other cars got door dings in them because most people don't give a crap and are ***'s. My BMW was broken into 2 times my truck was 1 attempt and none in my brothers trooper. The trooper is stock on nothing special so that is why it didn't get broken into. The truck got to much attention same with my BMW, the Evo when people realize what it is can't take there hands of it. So for collage just get a nice Honda civic or something along those lines and it gets good gas mileage. Save money and just get it latter on down the road that is what I would do. Don't get into a ton of debt for collage and a expensive car.

If you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO have a performance car while in college, then the Evo is the way to go, since it's got four doors and a decent trunk. That aside, having owned an Evo for the second half of my fifth year in college, I wouldn't recommend it. Lucky for me, I lived in Newport Beach and my roommates were fine with me taking the alley spot/garage spot, plus I only had to go to campus for one hour every other Monday. However, the following summer, I was a summer RA in my school, which was pretty chill since student housing is less than half-full, so there are a lot less cars, and it's pretty easy to find a decent parking spot. On the downside, there was an incident where some guys spit out soda on the front of my car and on the side window (which was slightly cracked open), and another time somebody peed on my car (and I suspect it was the boyfriend of the resident of mine I had slept with ).

During the school year, parking is worse, there are more idiots who are more likely to ding doors and scrape your bumpers when trying to squeeze into a tight spot, plus people coming back drunk from parties and falling on your car or getting mad at your wing. One of my friends' Civics got stolen, and it was during the daytime in the commuter parking lot while he was in class.

Get a Suzuki 1100 GSX-R. It's easier to park near your lecture hall. Another plus: it's a lot cheaper to buy and'll save you money on gas.

if you have the $$ and time to maintain it and you're not making too many long distance trips, go for it. just always keep school a priority.
