Depends on what you want. If you want a full race car with no options get the RS. If you want some luxury get the GSR with the leather, sunroof , subwoofer and zenon lights. Go to the dealer and see the differences. The MR has a 6 speed trans. From what I hear the 6 speed is weaker than the 5 speed.

Stock rating is 286 hp, but dyno tests indicate that it's a bit underrated... around 300 hp at the crank is probably closer to the truth. The IX SE seems to be the best buy.

I put down 255 hp and 260 tq stock. A stock IX with a good driver can run 13 flat in the 1/4.

Evo's don't drift without a LOT of help. There is a company that can convert it to RWD and Cusco makes a center differential that will shift the torque bias toward the rear. If you want to drift you are looking at the wrong car.

^^^ +2 yeah Evo's are great cars, but you should get a 240sx if you are into drifting, and there are so many options with those cars.

That's a bit much. I wouldn't say it's the wrong car for drifting. It's pretty much the best AWD car to drift in; but that being said, it's not nearly as easy to drift as your average RWD Nissan is. Getting it sideways just requires different approaches. The thing that takes getting used to is the transition between drifting and going straight, because if you're going sideways, the moment all four tires grip and straighten the car out, you might sometimes feel a violent jerk, whereas RWD cars tend to do that a bit smoother.

What I did in my first Evo in empty parking lots during/after rain was to drive in a circle and slowly increase the throttle to the point where the rear end slid out, then I'd countersteer, hold it and pretty much drift in a circle continuously. It was pretty fun, plus it gives you an idea as to the point at which the car goes sideways, depending on steering and throttle input.

But of course, I'm still very much a beginner, and this type of stuff isn't really recommended, especially since you'll wear down the tires much more quickly plus put the differentials through a bit more abuse.

If you want to drift this car to win it wont happen. Yes if you are on the street and go around a corner a punch it it will go side ways like a rear wheel drive car. If thats all you are looking for the EVO is you car.

^ That's a good way to put it. Don't plan on winning any drift contests with this. I remember at the Formula D competition last month, out of the 16 finalists after the qualifying rounds, all were RWD except for one Evo VIII, but it broke down shortly before the actual competition started.
