Newbie Needs Helppppp

Okkkk so the boyfriend (I'm posting on his name) bought a 06 Evo 9 SE. We installed the Injen IC piping kit with air intake last weekend. We drove it around fine, then he got on it a lil bit in first, and went through it fine. Then second and third felt like he hit a brick wall. And in fourth it doesn't want to go to 4k. We checked all the piping and it's still on, but it's making a sound that is kinda like it's in open waste-gate or bov.

The brick wall experience is when the car hits fuel cut. Car needs to be tune.

Never heard of anyone getting fuel cut from just adding I/C pipes and an intake. Triple check all your connections for leaks, especially the one going to the intercooler and your BOV connection. Make sure the vacuum line didn't come off either. While you at it, make sure you didn't put the BOV on backwards.

Flashing the ECU should help. I had the same issue when I put on a pipe. Basically, it was explained to me that anything you do that causes a change in the A/F such as a test pipe/HFC, intake, injectors (duh), etc. you should get it reflashed. The change in the intake to a hard pipe from the stock accordian tube "can" cause a type of turbulance in the way the air enters and reads at the MAF. Hope you get it taken care of

This might be a dumb idea, but may be worth a try. How about resetting the ECU? I know when I installed my intake I would throw a check engine light, I reset the ECU allowing it to relearn what going on. Might be worth a try.

did you pull the battery terminal off for a few minutes? Also, did you check for the codes after reseting the ECU? if you did that would of erased all of the codes.
