Goal: 350-400 AWHP

What I got:
04 EVO VIII with 20K miles

What I've done:
Walbro fuel pump
Greddy Intercooler w/ Lower Piping
K&N Drop In Filter
HKS Turbo Timer
Hallman MBC
Tein Lowering Springs

What I'm looking to do next:
Launch Control (see below)
ACT Street Clutch
HKS Hi Power Exhaust

Launch Control:
1. Did 2004 Evos come with the 5500rpm stationary rev limiter?

2. If yes, could my car have been disabled since it will rev to redline in first gear at a stand still? How can I enable it?

3. If no, what can I get that will give me this launch ability, ie. Flash, or piggyback?

ACT Street Clutch:
1. I don't know much about clutches. I was told that this is good for what I want in the future(around 400AWHP) but can this clutch handle launch after launch at the track, then be able to get me home?

HKS Hi Power Exhaust:
After I can launch like I want to, I will be looking at this exhaust, Tune to around 22-23psi then go from there.

But My main concern right now is the stationary rev limiter. Any insight on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Am I on the right track for 400 AWHP?

no launch control in the 04s. just keep practicing and you wont need one.

yeah, I hear ya on the practicing, but its kinda a fitting in thng too. three of my buddies have it in their IX's and I know a GSX with "2-step". I'm not even sure what that is... but he says its different from the rev limiter the EVOs use...

Two step = stationary rev limiter. There is no difference really. Your next mod should include coilovers, just upgrading springs doesn't cut it.

if you get the tactrix cable you can adjust your stationary rev limiter thus the 2 step

Right now I'd guess you have about 250 at the wheels. Your going to need quite a few mods to pick up 100+whp. (Mustang Dyno estimate)

Get that exhaust on and a tune is a great start. From there, I would figure out which cams to get. Next, maybe exhaust manifold, SS 02 housing, alky injection, injectors, green turbo, etc..

I wouldn't worry about the clutch until you start having problems with it. I was on the stock clutch for almost 40,000 miles with over 300whp before upgrading.

On the two-step, it's really preference. I have it set on my AEM but I never use it and pull consistent 1.7's and an occassional 1.6.

Good luck on your journey!

Your factory 2 step is currently set higher than your actual rev limiter that's how come it doesnt work right now but the code is there and it works if you put a correct value in there. 6000 is a good number to put in there.

There isn't really a clutch that can handle launch after launch. Some may just last a little bit longer than others, but don't expect any to last their actual lifetime if you keep launching. Why don't you just keep practicing on the stock clutch, then switch when you got your launching down?

You will also need cams to get you up there in HP.

I would say to stay away from the ACT clutch. Exedy would be much better, and save you a lot of headache in the future for a little extra money in the beginning.

i have heard that running a 6 puck ACT clutch with stock pressure plate works absolutely awesome but again.......

i would just go with Exedy HD just to be safe.
