Brand new Evo IX :)
Hi guys, just bought a SSL IX and I love it!
Just quick question and sorry if its a noob thing.
1. How many miles do I go until its broken in? I'm getting diff answers from dealerships: 300, 600 and 1000 so can you guys help?
2. This is my first turbo car so just wondering: when you first start the car, from the exhaust does little bits of water come out? I know with NA cars lots of water comes out when you first start it so I was wondering if thats the same case with Turbos. Also do you guys get any black dust on the inside of your mufflers?
I noticed that my friend's turbo gives little water drops and that if you rub inside of the muffler, there is black dust in.
Thanks guys and sorry about the newb question.
P.S. I'll post pics of my ride soon....too busy working

Basicly the Engine is already broken-in from the factory. However the tranny will take about 2000 miles until it is fully broken-in. I look at it this way, when I start my MR up every time I let it idle a bit and warm up nefore pulling off, this to me is breaking the engine more so than an actual mileage factor. Give the tranny some kindness for the frist 2000 miles and then you will see a better/smoother change in gear enagagements.
Lastly EVO's are tuned from the factory to run very rich, hence the black dust you mention. It's all over my back bumper since I run a test pipe and still the factory ecu/tune. Condensation comes from the fuel and not inside the engine, any water vapor/dropets are harmless and no worries.......Learn to drive your Evo, you Should Think about Breaking YOURSELF in rather than the car first and foremost....now enjoy it, it is an amazing car...

Anyone with engne knowledge knows that the guy putting the engine together at the factory breaks it in right then and there.....do you hanestly think that a car company would trust a teenager tro break in and engine properly with the Warrantys they are offering these days??????? Engines are already broken in when they drive them off the ship....
