How to tell the difference between evo models....car is stripped
Getting ready to pick up a fully stripped evo theft recovery....no interior no rims fully stripped minus the dash, engine, brakes drivetrain.....what should i be looking for to determine if its a mr or regular evo....is the big difference the 6spd tranny...by the way its an 05 with 3900 miles....its been sitting in insurance litigation for the past 2 years.....
Check the tranny thats it.
as for RS(base model) it has no speakers and no radio as well as no power anything. Anything other will be the base model.
Good luck rebilding the car. Go for it.

Well you can tell the different trims from:
1. MR has a 6 speed
2. GSR has a 5 speed with radio, speakers, etc.
3. RS has a 5 speed without radio, no speakers, etc.
4. Check the VIN#.

Wow, some of these replies are pretty cryptic!
Fool proof way to tell:
You have an RS if it has manual crank windows and an aluminum roof (check with magnet).
You have an VIII if it has steel roof and 5 speed.
You have an MR if it has an aluminum roof and 6 speed.
Checking the tranny, window lift type and roof will rule out any confusion due to parts swapping or adding (OEM radio in RS, etc).
