Anyones Car ever broken with the stock launch limiter
I cannot give you a 100% answer on this, however I can speculate that given the number of evos that race at one point or another something has had to have gone wrong with one of them.
I mean it's simly logically to assume that at some point or another even with the stock rev limiter something could break.
Also, it depends how you launch at 5k, I mean if you rev to 5k and just dump the clutch repeatedly the shock gets transmitted through the car....

just because it has a factory set launch limiter doesnt mean u can just drop your clutch and everything will be ok

The two step is only set up on certain model years though. I have a 2004 and no two step. I heard somewhere it was only set on the 2005 models (Maybe incorrect).
if you get tuned by a tuner they can set it up for you though.

IX's have the 5k rev limiter. But realize that it only kicks in when the clutch is pressed in and/or in gear as well. (most might know this but I'm just stating it for those that dont)
Now me personally, I have never launched my car hard. Most of the time I just roll from start, but twice I tried to launch from 2.5k to 3k rpms. But I never dropped the clutch, I just slipped it out. I only tested the stock rev limiter to compare it to other evos, but I never launched it from that high of an rpm.
I'm curious to know how most of the evo drivers move their cars from a dig... I for example give very little throttle around 900-1.2k rpms every time. I've seen clips with people driving and each time from a stop they rev as high as 2-2.5k rpms just to get their car moving from a stop. Now can you imagine why some of the evo owners clutches wear quicker although they hardly ever launch their car?
