Anyones Car ever broken with the stock launch limiter
+1, my 05' also has it.
All Evo's have it, on 03' and 04's it is just set above the rev.limiter so it is disabled. If you get a reflash or use open ecu, you can set it where ever you want it. We set my friends 04' at 5600rpm and it worked beautifully.

IX's have the 5k rev limiter. But realize that it only kicks in when the clutch is pressed in and/or in gear as well. (most might know this but I'm just stating it for those that dont)
Now me personally, I have never launched my car hard. Most of the time I just roll from start, but twice I tried to launch from 2.5k to 3k rpms. But I never dropped the clutch, I just slipped it out. I only tested the stock rev limiter to compare it to other evos, but I never launched it from that high of an rpm.
I'm curious to know how most of the evo drivers move their cars from a dig... I for example give very little throttle around 900-1.2k rpms every time. I've seen clips with people driving and each time from a stop they rev as high as 2-2.5k rpms just to get their car moving from a stop. Now can you imagine why some of the evo owners clutches wear quicker although they hardly ever launch their car?

my launch limiter is set at 6250rpm, and ive launched atleast 30 times from that rpm...personally anything lower than 5000rpm is worthless for an "awd" car. clutch wear is impossible to prevent as it is a wearable item just like brakes, it all depends on the driver and how experienced one is with their car to make the clutch last longer...i know people who burnt the stock clutch before 5000 miles and i know some who are still using the stock clutch with 70000 miles...
I've only bog at 5000 when I was learning how to launch it and now I dont bog out at all..Ever since I lern how to launch all my friends dont want to run me from the dig cuz they I have a big start. I havent lost from the dig yet I know one dayy I'll get spank cuz my car is still stock.
