My HKS BOV sputters? is that normal or bad for the car?

I have a HKS BOV recirculated and I just got the car tuned by Sean Ivey last week. Sean is a great guy by the way, he tuned my car at 353 hp and 354 torque w mods just:

3inch downpipe, 3inch testpipe, 3 inch RSR Exmag, boost controller, walbro 255, HKS racing Intake, and the HKS BOV.

ANyway, when i accelerate lightly, the BOV sputters hard, is this normal? am I losing power? is it bad for my car? please give advice

I dont think so, i thought BOV are suppose to be smooth and nice sounding at all times.

I was thinking about upgrading to the new HKS BOV, b/c i did buy this one used.

Would it be better if i VENTED the BOV into the air?

thanks

it sounds perfect when i put some gas on it.

The HKS SSQ BOV is known for causing this kind of problem, regardless of being recirc or VTA. I would just get something else. Actually, that's what I did after I got sick of my HKS BOV when I had my VIII.

I have an APS, it's pretty quiet. If you want to hear it though, just slap on a cone filter instead of the stock airbox and you'll hear it just fine. One of the least annoying BOV I've heard.

Are you saying it flutters AFTER your tune? Or did it always do this?

This is true, I was just referring to the HKS sputtering like he said, and causing the motor to bog a little, or alot, depending on whether it's tuned or not.

yes u are all correct. the engine does bog a little, and IS THIS OK? i dont think it really hurts the car on the way it feels, but let me know. If it is bad for the car, then i will change it right away. thanks

It could be bad if you experience the bog and then when you continuously increase the throttle the motor does not build boost without feeling like it is being restricted. It's hard for me to describe it, but you'll know it when you feel it.

sound??? i hope sound isn't what you're after. learn from my mistake. i had the greddy rs and it sounds loud when vta. but i learned it was a mistake to do that especially since i'm not tuned. i've got it recirculating now and it still doesn't feel right. i'm switching to the stock/jdm ix bov. everyone says it works perfect and no need to worry about adjustment. but if u r looking for sound, i've heard that even your stock will sounds good when u add an intake. but just make sure to get tuned for it also.

It's not ok, when it sputters that means the turbo it turning the other way. That is bad for your turbo.

P.S What dyno did you get tuned on? Sounds a lot, 350 some HP without cams, just MBC exhaust and intake? Wow
