in autox or road racing the better driver will win.

in daily driving the car with 5k in mods

in drag racing the car with 5 k in mods

2 out of 3 says the 5k in mods wins.

I just asked him to take a look at what I was recommending which was our Stages 1,2 and 3 along with an Exedy clutch and a walbro fuel pump.

It was kind of a "starter" message to feel out exactly what path we would be looking at taking. If you are wondering why I did not include fuel injectors as they really are not needed with the stock turbo with the stock ECU. I do not recommend upgrading the stock injectors unless you upgrade the turbo and/or switch to an EMS.

The Evo green turbo is a great upgrade! Especially for the money. It flows the same amount of air as a 50trim which is substantially more money. Not to mention the 20G-9LT (aka: Green) has been proven to run 10's in the quarter.

I do NOT recommend going to this turbo until you have all the correct supporting mods which would be what is included in our stages 1-4. If you have that then I would say you're ready to rock and roll!

Going to look now! You will have a reply shortly. Sorry for the delay just been busy.

Also I did forget to add in the ARP headstuds. I normally recommend those to customers when they are doing cams. Since you have the valve cover off and the cams out it makes sense to do these at the same time. They are $110.

peekboost equal length header
dual bb gt 3076r turbo
down pipe test pipe
dump tube
tail wastegate
braided oil and water lines
pwr evo 5 radiator
slim line fan
intake and filter
all for 3000 plus shipping
You need the supporting mods before jumping to a larger turbo. Just throwing a larger turbo at the car is not the way to go. It all comes in time. Just be patient with the build and do it right. The 20G-9LT will outperform that 3076 anyway.

I dunno, but it sounds like you just called everyone here on the forums dumb@$$es... JK

As good of an idea it is to invest $5k in some ETF's / IRA / High yield savings acct... that sort of logic fails when you have the speed bug..

Thanks for the input
You have an Evo IX, which is a phenomenal platform to start out with.

Some thoughts...

- if your stock clutch is holding up, then IMO it is pointless to swap it out. If you can resist launching the car from a dead-stop, then the stock clutch will last a long time.

- if you're going to road race the car you will at a minimum need to budget for a set of tires ($500 or more), better brake pads ($250+), SS brake lines ($?forgot), flush your brake system and replace the stock fluid with Motul RBF 600 ($15/bottle), new set of rotors ($300+), Water wetter ($8/bottle), Greddy radiator cap ($?), set of gauges (boost, oil pressure, oil temp), oil changes, tranny/TC/diff fluid changes, alignment (suggest you start with max negative camber up front, -1.5* camber back, 0 toe all around). You may also want to think about replacing all of the rubber IC hoses with silicon hoses and better clamps ($300+).

- To make some additional power on your IX, start with a full 3" turbo back exhaust with HF cat or test pipe (your choice depending on how loud you want it and if you want to stay street legal), then add a good tune. That's an easy 40+ whp. Want more? Throw in a set of the GSC stage 1 (S1) cams.

- If you still have money left over, then you can start thinking about other options, such as an FP Green turbo (which needs larger injectors and may need a better fuel pump), IC

- miscellaneous things to think about: depending on who tunes your car, you may be forced into going with a manual boost controller. You'll definitely also want to have a boost gauge. Shifter bushings and SS clutch line are also nice to have.

The bottom line is that you have a great car to start with and if you want to give road racing a serious shot, then the last thing you need is more power to start with. A well driven stock IX will put almost anything to shame on a circuit.
