I think the AEM is overkill for your setup. The stock ECU is quite capable...the link in my sig explains the process and equipment necessary.

WR-9 = 20G-9-5?

WR-9 = 20G-9-6

WR-9 = 20G-8-5?

There are too many names for these turbos. If it's the 20G-9-5 and you can get one hell of a deal on it I would say go for it. It would be a nice improvement over the stock 03 9.8 turbo. Of course if you haven't done cams and other things I would recommend you do that first.

FP Green is a very nice turbo. It's well worth whatever extra money it costs.

Stock head, intake manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifold, stock flywheel, ACT single disc. Stock driveline.

3300lbs.

Weight reduction = spare tire removal + tools.

Apple that...

So everyone is in agreement that I should sell the EMS system and pocket the cash from it?

Do you plan on going to a GT35R or anything larger in the future? If so, Id keep the EMS, if not, Id sell it.

I think youre best bet would be to sell it and just use a flash. The money that thing costs just isnt worth the gains at your power level.

True but once you get to the end of the road where all you can do is super aggressive cams and other minor things.. you can pickup some hp from the EMS. Dave Buschur makes what like 10-40hp over a flash with AEM? Granted you have more chance of blowing the motor and such but still.

You could do a lot for what you would sell the EMS for.

cmon people, the AEM EMS isn't magic, it adjusts fuel and timing just like the stock ecu can. The power gained by going to the EMS isn't from it.. it's from getting a new tune.

To answer justchil's question its the equal as 20g9-6 except it has a titaium wheel which makes it spool faster, I am not sure if that helps out but. Also I am wondering something this might sound crazy but it cant hurt to ask. Should I look into maybe ungrading the pistons, or the valvetrain? I know the factory parts are ok for what im running but would I see any gains or advantages from them Im just wondering.

Holy overzealous ambitions batman!

Get the supporting mods first (Cone or drop in filter, TBE, fuel pump, MBC, Cams, FMIC, LICP, UICP, Injectors...). Unless you're pushing over 500 hp you don't need to rebuild the top end. Get the FP green--stop messing with the white reject, and be done with it.

No there is power to be had with the EMS over a flash. Its just that with something like the FP Green, the gains may not be worth the hefty price tag.

This isnīt exactly a high-mileage, stock, "unbuttoned" longblock, or is it? I assume that the stock head in this 3300 lb. car is a fully ported and polished item, along with ported manifolds and TB. Itīs not that I am a doubter, in fact I am a fan.
But letīs call a spade a spade.

23k mi, no porting or polishing, standard size valves. Unported intake and exhaust manifolds, stock TB unported.
