best exhaust with quite feature...

hey guys, it's gonna be a couple months before i even get my EVO but it IS happening, i've got 3k saved up on my way to 10k that i'm droping on a down payment for an IX in december. anyways i'm buying some basic parts now so that i can have something to get my car moving once i do get it (already have greddy profec B type S EBC, and greddy autotimer TT). ANYWAYS TO THE POINT. i'm looking for an exhaust with good gains but won't wake the dead when getting on it, i had an eclipse w/ a Thermal R&D catback w/ OBX manifold - cat and it was loud as sin. I'd like to have the Greddy EVO 2 exhaust but i hear the HP gains aren't very good. anything 1 step up from greddy would be good. thanks for any help.

Have you looked at our 3" turboback with the highflow cat and magnaflow muffler? It is the quietest system we offer. Has a nice mellow tone at idle and driving but gets more aggressive at WOT.

The full TRUE 3" turboback stainless steel system is $825 shipped

Tanabe has a real quiet exhaust. Sounds so close to stcok it's unbelievable. And it's a true 3" exhaust. Definately get a good high flow cat too.

I purchased the complete Injen 3" Turbo back because of the power rating and the quietest. Turbo magazine did a comparison of 12 (I think) exhausts and Injen ranked number 2 for power (HKS Titatiun was #1) but Injen ranked #1 for lowest decibal reading Plus it looks like a stock exhaust when it is on the car which helps with pesky cops.

well hate to inform you about what ya heard, but i made great gains with the greddy evo 2 exhaust in conjunction with the dc sports downpipe...i feel its a good combination if you like it quiet when cruising and loud as any other exhaust when you get on it......look at my signature.....

Tanabe Medallion Touring--just got mine specifically for this reason..Very quiet but at WOT nice sound..I dont want the attention just the power and willing to give a little HP up for the quiet and hassle free operation of not dealing with Johnny Law.. Hell its only 92-93 db...

I'm running the WORKS exhale series. Honestly, I think the camera made it a little louder since it was right next to it, because I don't even notice it until I get on the highway. It's a nice growl. I'm happy with it and it looks pretty close to stock, it just comes up flush with the bumper instead of being a little behind it.

That Buschur TBE that Jrod posted is pretty quiet, too. Wow.

I second this. It sounds great both at idle and at WOT.

I hate to throw cold water on your idea, but in reality, a cat-back exhaust is only good for about 10 to 15 hp if you get a dyno tune with it. IMHO, all the aftermarket exhausts I've heard are obnoxiously loud and get old pretty soon when you have to put up with them over time. Especially if you do much highway driving with your EVO. At first they sound pretty cool, etc. and from time to time it's nice to get that growl, but in real life they get old fast... I went back to stock and never regret it. Even totally stock (nice and bearable) it still puts down 249 whp on a DD dyno... All I have is a XEDE and a custom tune by Dyno4mance ..... Oh yeah, did I mention how much nicer it is on highway driving with the stock exhaust?

Are you guys able to add a resonator on the long exhaust pipe section of the cat-back to further quiet the sound?
