Question VIN Question (searched)

Hey all,

I've been lurking for a while and I finally got around to registering here so I could post a bit (and more once I buy an evo).

I've got a question that searching could not answer:

Where can I go to learn how to decode a mitsubishi VIN? I've been looking at used Evos and it bothers me that I can't tell what trim level I'm looking at or if the model matches up with the VIN, etc.

Here are some VINs as examples (taken from dealership for sale listings, not private owners) that are different trims, years and models:

JA3AH86D55U012486
JA3AH86C56U067559
JA3AH36D74U066762

Any help is appreciated.

Was it in the FAQ somewhere and I missed it? Since I'm coming from the Honduh world, I'll use that as an example to convey what it is I'm talking about:

Example VIN
JH4DB7561WS000001

Separate the VIN like so

J-H-4-DB7-5-6-1-W-S-000001

J= Country of origin
J: Japan

H= Brand
H: Honda Motor Co. Ltd.

4= Vehicle classification
4: Acura Passenger Vehicle

DB7 = Body and engine type.
DB7: 4dr B18B
DB8: 4dr B18C
DC4: 2dr B18B
DC2: 2dr B18C

5= Body and transmission type
3: 2dr 5spd
4: 2dr auto
5: 4dr 5spd
6: 4dr auto

6= Vehicle grade
1: Type R
4: RS
5: LS
6: GS/SE
8: GS-R
9: GS-R w/ leather seats

1= check digit, disregard

W= Model year
R: 1994
S: 1995
T: 1996
V: 1997
W: 1998
X: 1999
Y: 2000
1: 2001

S= Factory Code
S: Suzuka, Japan

000001= serial number

Yeah, great resource. I just needed an example to help convey my point. So is there some place I can go to decode a Mitsubishi VIN?

I take it the lack of replies indicates that no one knows how to decode the VIN?
