The woes of owning an evo

Ok I've posted threads about the noises my car makes and the possibility of having an upgraded transmission, blah, blah, blah. Long story short. I've had a throw out bearing rattle for the past year. When I bought the car the seller said it had an ACT clutch and that they make noise. Mitsu later told me it was a throw out bearing but not to worry until it goes A "friend" later told me that he thinks I had an upgraded tranny so I was excited later found it wasn't...oh well. Fast forward a month and the car is making a ticking noise from the tranny in gears 1 and R and the bearing is really loud. Brought it to a friend who has alot of experience with DSM talons to have him pull the tranny and check it out, replace bearing, whatever. Here's the good part...on the drain plug was a gear tooth broken clean off, it gets better. Then the tranny won't come down so my buddy wrestles with it for 2 hours. Finally he gets it off and the throw-out bearing was fused to the pressure plate. The bearing was so blown out that the heat from the friction must have actually melted the metal, I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it. Although I was surprised to see that I did infact have a exedy hyper twin plate clutch and fidanza lightened flywheel but the pressure plate is NG and the clutch is actually 75% worn so it's basically done. There is a good part though the tranny left today for shep and it'll be good as new and a brand new clutch is also on the way. Moral of the story for all you throw out bearing problem people get them changed ASAP. I was told to let it go by 4 or 5 different mechanics and this is what happened. If I did it sooner I could have saved my clutch from premature wear and saved some money in the process

it is a good excuse to get the shep tranny upgrade and clutch but still it's going to cost me alot of money that I didn't want to spend right now. And I don't even want to think about what my wife will say when I tell her. I am secretly happy though...on the inside

Exedy twins are a complete unit. You can't have an Exedy twin disk AND a Fidanza flywheel....

Want woes? Having to replace tires so friggin often!! Aligned and correctly mounted and balanced, I go through tires like nothing- and it bites. I just can't get a doctor to prescribe something for my chronic lead-foot disease!
