ok that makes sense I don't know **** about exedy twins as you can see. So basically I have to get a new flywheel too.... **** this is getting more and more expensive. I was looking at it on the car when it was off the lift and it looked like the flywheel was seperate from the clutch and it looked like a fidanza but it was hard to tell and like said I know nothing about them. Thanks for the heads up though that part of the clutch is still on the car. What are my options with this can anything be salvaged on the old clutch? It's 75% worn and the pressure plate is fused with the TOB. Do I have to go twin disc with the regular shep trans or can I go with ACT HDSS with flywheel? Anyone have any clutch/flywheels for sale?

The only major woe for me is the damned gas mileage- it sucks.

Does the flywheel have lil towers arround the parameter of the flywheel surface? and does it actually have 2 seperat clutch disk? and finally, is the pressure plate purplish aluminum?

Yes to everything I was just told there is a rebuild kit for the exedy twin disc. Is this true anyone here of it.

I haven't decided yet. I found out that exedy does make a rebuild kit for the twin disc but it only includes 2 new discs. That won't work for me because my pressure plate is done. I didn't want to spend the extra on another twin disc because I didn't really like it. I had always thought I had an ACT clutch because when I bought it, it was advertised as with an ACT. Didn't like the feel for daily driving, this may be blasphemy in the evo world but I havee to go with what feels good to me. The shifts were smooth and precise but clutch engagement was choppy and it chattered. Pedal was also very stiff. So now I'm stuck I don't want to spend 1300-1600 on a clutch because I'm spending 1300 on the tranny already but I do need a clutch and flywheel combo that is pretty tough. I probably won't exceed 400lb/ft, right now I'm at 310whp 298tq. I won't be going with ACT because shep told me that ACT discs are too heavy and engage like ****....what to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

I run an ACT HD with their lightest flywheel and I enjoy it. I hear that the ACT can take some abuse with out pain.

update....The transmission is finally done and on it's way back from Shepherd. They are really great over there I have to say Jon is an incredibly nice guy. Helped me out alot. The transmission was totally f,ed. There were teeth and metal shavings all over the place. 1st gear was done, 2-4 were all grinding, final drive f'ed, but all rebuildable. Jon said it was one of the worst transmissions he had ever seen.I'll know the full extent of the damage when I see the reciept. When I talked to Jon I just told him to fix everything that was broken no questions asked. Keep in mind I launched the car 2 times when I first got it over a year ago. Transmission was always smooth but noisy. The previous owner must have really beat this thing. Oh well it's almost done and when it's back in the car I'll be about $2500 poorer . The twin disc has some life left so I'm putting it back in for the summer. The rebuild kit has been on back order from gruppe-s for a while now so I cancelled my order. All in all it's been a shi**y month, bumming rides and thinking about my evo 24-7. My beater altimas battery died and has a fuel leak didn't even feel like playing around with it so I've been walking alot.

yeah I was given alot of bad information regarding this car. It seems that everyone is the authority on evos. I originally thought that this car had alot of stuff it actually didn't. My "friend" who works on transmissions and has a shop thought that I might have had an upgraded transmission. I swear this car shifted as smooth as butter only a few months ago. It was just really noisy. I was naive in the fact that I actually started listening to all these "experts" and not just taking my car to a proper mechanic and having all my concerns checked out. I guess I wanted to believe all the good things and none of the bad. The person who sold me this car, who I will not mention, sells on here often and I want to give him a chance to at least admit, apologize, or explain what was really done to the car before I got it.

If you are trying to imply something else with your comment you'll have to clarify sarcasm is hard to read.

Although I did expect problems with a used evo. And I knew the car had been heavily modded previously. I was lied too on certain keys aspects of the car
