2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

So Subaru put a 2.5 L engine in the new and up coming STi. I guess their techs couldn't get more hp then Mitsubishi out of their 2.0 L engine and still pass emissions, so the only way they could do it was with a bigger engine. Of course we know Americans love bigger better things, so had Subaru put a V8 in the STi they would probably be in demand by half the population of Blah Blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah? Probably not as the 300 hp blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. The STi has always blah blah blah with understeer which has only now just been addressed in the latest JDM model. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah? Blah Subaru knows blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah 0-60 blah blah 1/4 mile blah blah. What proof do I have of this? Hundreds of dumb *** comments made on this forum!

Well, since nobody has driven the Sti yet, those "dumb" comments have yet to be proven. I will say with the open front dif, the Evo MAY be at a disadvantage. Besides, we don't know if the 2.5 is going to be a larger engine, or just a bore and stroked current one. Want to tell Claudius that his Evo doesn't handle as well because it's 2.2 liters?

You're making lots of assumptions.

The EJ25 and EJ20 blocks are in fact the same dimensions externally. So not any heavier.

You're right though about them cheating with the displacement. If I get one, I think I'll de-stroke it so the power I'm making is more respectable.

Holy crap! Did I write that? I come back a few hours later, reread this and it makes no sence to me.

Actually, I wasn't making assumptions. I was attacking! There were a couple of posts that I had read earlier that caused me the need to vent some steam. I have now edited my post to reflect the non logical reasoning in which some of the other post have been written, as my post was not much better.

Is not that Subaru doesn't have the technology to pump out 300HP out of 2.0L. Is all about reliabitility and further mod, so tell me how many HP can you get out of a 2.0L engine with all different kind of mod still using 91 pump gas without detonation? The STi is comming out with AVCS, drive by wire, DCCD, Suretrac electronic front LSD, 6 speeds tran with cooler, 4 sensor super-sport ABS with G-sensor and yet, is still 50 state certified LOW EMISSION VEHICLE!!! Now thats HIGH TECH!!!

Honestly I think we got the shorter end of the stick but I can't justify paying $33K for an impreza with no options. That justification is based on the fact that there is no more money in my bank account So, i'm gonna stick with the Evo. Out the door it should fall under $33K. (I'm hoping) and should be a blast to drive.

You can still pump a lot of HP from a 2 liter with pump gas. Look at all those DSM's generating 400-500HP on the street. Just think of the possibilities with the EVO!

No, options??? It basically got everything you can think of from a JDM STi. The only thing STi doesn't have is moonroof and stereo(optional).

It's just like the 22B situation.

Some will question "Why am I paying $50K for this Subaru" while others have already put down they order and patiently waiting for their car. (400 units all sold within one day in Japan).

For those who get it, they get it...it's that simple

Ah yes, the 22B. Which would I want more? An Evo VI TME or a 22B? Rating them solely on a love factor, that would be the hardest question for me. I don't think I could answer that.

I dont know whats wrong about going with a 2.5L. Subaru guys were pretty happy to hear about it though. I could care less though. I'm fine with my 2.0l WRX I cant wait until the meets. Evo/WRX/STi meets

A guy in New Zealand stroked his 99' WRX STI Version V to 2.5 litres. He ended up getting 505hp at the flywheel and a 12.3 @ 118.75mph.

Cheers
