In reference to the post earlier about a guy in New Zealand who stroked his STi motor to 2.5 liters, that isn't too impressive. With 505 hp, he should be around 11.00sec in the quarter. In his earlier days, Dave Buschur ran 11's and he had around 480hp in his talon. Sean Glazar had 500hp for his 11's in his. They are both 2 liters. EVO's can run 12's and yet I can guarantee you they are no where near 505 hp. Maybe a little over 300 for 12's. With 500 horses you should be in the 11's easy. I guess the boxer doesn't respond as well as the 4G63.

Either the guy you heard about can't drive, or you got your numbers mixed up. There's an australia WRX with 499hp at the wheels running 10.02. It's not a 2.5 though.

The STi produces more "relax" HP from its 2.5L engine, rather then the EVO 135.5HP/L. Less strength on the engine, longer the life, otherword, more reliable.

I personally think that the STi w/6 speed, front LSD, 2.5 liter, and 300 hp, 300 ft-lbs, and still with full factory warrentee is a phenomenal deal, especially if it comes in the $32k or less range. No mods needed, imo.

The WRX is a great value at $23k, and that doesn't come with 17" rims, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, upgraded suspension, 6 speed, etc. To make a WRX into an STi caliber car would take $15k, and you could kiss your warrentee good bye!

At least, that's the way I look at it. I'm a huge fan of any AWD turbo, though.

I am not saying 2.5L scooby engine is a bad idea. However, if it's all that great, why don't they put it in the JDM/Euro WRX Sti?

I am think this has to do with passing the smog test (like some other people have pointed out) and to "please" the general American public (bigger is "ALWAYS" better in most people's mind)...just my two cents

Come on guys its a first year car,not going to get it for 32k or less!

!!There were some dealerships in CA that got 50k+ for the US EVO.you guys should had learned by now what happens everytime a first year car comes out.EX S2000,Viper,Prowler and even the first year WRX.And the percentage of people that did get the cars for MSRP either putdeposits a year plus before the car even came out.or knew someone in the dealership.Im not trying to bash anyone or say i have all the answers or know everything.but there are reports from fellow forum members that put deposits down for the EVO over a year ago,and now the dealership says they cant give the car to them for MSRP cause when they were taking deposits they werent sure which EVO we were getting
