Tranny making noise in idle and cannot put the stick into gears!

1st Off I am not going to say what dealership worked on my tranny until I figure this out. I took my evo 9 to a near by dealership to do a complete overhaul on my tranny. I have a slipping act 3200lb clutch and flywheel in the tranny and they were willing to still work on the car under warranty. As soon as mitsu took out the tranny I had them give me the clutch and flywheel so I can get the pressure plate and flywheel rebuilt by a clutch rebuilder. I get everything resurfaced and everything looks great and ready to install. When I took the clutch and fw back to mitsu they where already finish rebuilding my tranny.

I came back the next day to pick up my car and the mechanics said that my car cannot drive, and I was like wtf. When the car idles, it sounds like a messed up twin-disc and I can't put the stick into 1st,2nd,5th and reverse. 3rd and 4th is fine but I can't drive it. The dealership told me that I needed to authorize a $500 teardown and I could'nt do it that day because I won't have the $ til' feb 7. So I had it towed back to my house. The mechanics all blamming the problem on the clutch and fw. The guy that rebuilt my clutch said I am the first customer that has ever come back to him with an issue about the clutches he rebuilds for the evo's. And I have a few friends that have gone to this guy and their clutches are like new perform like new.

Also, when the car is off it go's into all gears with or without the clutch disengaged. The parts that were replaced in my tranny were: sleeves, all synchro's, input shafts etc...

Can anybody identify what's going on and please tell me what direction I should take before I take it back to the dealership? Thx!

p.s. The loud noise from the tranny is only heard my foot is off the clutch and the noise go's away when I put the clutch pedal to the floor

sounds like the throw out bearing clip may have been knocked off by the input shaft during re installation, if so that is their fault and you should not have to pay to fix it. you should be able to verify if this is the problem by looking through the access hole on the tranny.l

that was the first thing that came to mind when i read this post... also, make sure that the clutch piston is bolted on correctly...

also, take the piston off, and try to move the TOB Fork back and forth... see how it moves...

If it was a problem with the clutch it would be the same in ALL the gears.

$500??

Seems pretty obvious to me what the problem is. All the clutch does is disconnect the power from the trans, that's it. Just an idea try starting the car in first and going for a short ride.

I had a local vendor come out and diagnos my car and he says he's 90% sure that it's the tranny and not the clutch. I will be taking back on monday to have them fix it.
