currently own a stang thinking about trading..

ok i have alot of questions so here it goes..

alright i own a 2000 mustang GT right now and the other day i gotta drive an evo 8 with a couple of mods, and man it was a blast. and now im very seriously thinking about getting an evo.... but my main concern is what is the difference between an evo8 and an evo9. and between the evo9mr and jus a regular evo9..

and if i was to pick up a new evo how much could i talk him down,

thanks

i recently came from an 03 Lightning to my 06 evo ix.. took a little getting used to but i love this car as much as i loved my L. anyhow, if you go used and get an viii stick with an 05. it has the acd (active center diff) and also a 10.5 hotside on the turbo compared to the 9.8 on the 03/04. the 06 evo has mivec which is variable valve timing which helps improve power through out the entire range, and they also respond to mods better. people with ix's that get a tbe (turbo back exhaust), mbc (manual boost controller), and a flash (ecu flash) have run 12.0's and even a couple have dipped into the 11's with just those few mods that you can get for about a grand.. with the viii you need cams to keep up with a stock ix.

go with a ix if you can afford it. you can get a ix rs for under 30k easy but there is no power options in the car or a/c. you should be able to get a ix for around 30k or so. good luck.

If you got the money to get a IX mr, do it! I promise you, you will not regret getting an evo. Ive driven sti's, stangs, srt-4's, 350z's, cameros, bmw's, etc.. and the evo is by far the best car ive ever driven and i wouldnt trade it for the world.

If you plan on tracking your car get a 5-speed (more stout as many people have come to find out after they burned out 4th on the track). As for power, the IX's are beasts...

Here's a link to compare pricing. This is the lowest your likely to ever see btw, and these guys WILL ship you a car. They are pretty popular especially in the NE where we get raped on Evo pricing. That one has the SSL package, so try for 31,999.

33k isnt that bad for a new ix with ssl.. (i love ssl btw) anyhow, see if you can get it for 31, or 32.. there will always be someone else who got a better deal, but if you can get a deal that makes you comfortable go for it.

I bought my IX SSL (same exact car as the one you linked to) a little over 2 months ago for $31K. Give them a starting offer around $30,500 and go from there. That's what I did and it worked for me. But, the Evo I bought had been sitting on the lot for about 10 months and had 150 miles on it. So, I think they needed to get rid of it and were willing to deal.
