jus a lil weird...

so i was driving on the freeway just crusin at about 70. all of a sudden i hear a loud clunk and felt a lil bump. i just thought i ran something over till i tried to change lanes and had no power steering. my battery light and brake light turned on and the motor started over heating. pulled over looked under the hood and noticed the serp. belt was completely off. then i noticed that my crank pulley was GONE. all 4 bolts that hold it are broke. annnd the pulley managed to make a nice little slice in my rear tire along the sidewall. does anyone know the specs of the crank pulley bolts?? has this happened to anyone else? geeeeez

I've never heard of bolts just breaking off, but it could be from the heat and tension that caused the bolts to break.

i bought the car used. i would think not. the pulley isnt lightend. 3 bolts are broken inside the hole and one looks like it broke almost right at the heada of the bolt. i wanna buy a perrin piece because im sure its cheaper than oem. butt im reading up and it looks to be a bad idea. the stock pulley is one piece yes?

The pullye is for driving the accessories. Water pump, A/C, Steering pump, Alternator. The cams aren't driven off the pulley.
