So if I swap a 9 turbo, how well would it work on STOCK evo8 ecu mapping? After all, it is pig rich...

I am aiming for 11s with stock turbo. Currently have cams, exhaust manifold, TBE exhaust, short ram intake, Jestr ecu tune for 24psi, 10.5 turbo hotside, intercooler w all pipes, 255 fuel pump. I think if it was tuned for E85(105oct) with bigger injectors and fpr I would be able to bust into the 11s. Seems the stock turbo has a lot of potential.

There is a installation kit, like $150 to install a 9 turbo into your 8. Your mapping would be no difference to a point. What I mean is that you could run the 9 turbo on stock setting but you would not see much results.

Getting a custom tune is the only way to really benefit from a 9 turbo. Stock for Stock an Evo 8 and 9 put down similar numbers. It's when you tune the 9 is when it opens up and takes advantage of MIVEC and the larger turbo.

Once you add cams and a larger turbo, there is not much difference.

To the originator of the the thread, getting to the 11s on the stock turbo even with the IX is no piece of cake. Most EVO IX owners do not run 11s on the stock turbo with simple bolt ons, a few have, but they have the key ingredient that many EVO owners including myself do not possess- very above average driving skill
no you're wrong. search and you'll find that 8's are indeed better geared for the drag strip. power is a different story.

Yes, I know that a tune/flash is the only way to really benefit from it... but what im saying is, say if I go to sell the car & leave the 9 turbo on stock 8 mapping, it will run like stock?

Well it depends, I am assuming we are talking about hitting 11s with bolt on mods in this thread, in that case the EVO IX 5-Speed gearing is better, it is possible to hit 11s with 111-112mph trap speeds on the IX.
