First of all i just bought a yellow Evo Last Week i think it was Father's Day, i traded in my 02 OZ Rally. well the question is, will there be a problem when the engine compartment get wet, cause the hood is vented maybe water may come inside or drip inside the engine compartment, isthere a problem with that situation, and I love washing my own car so it will expect a lot of water inside the compartment, is it the same thing as snow? pls tell more about the vented hood.

Well...I'm not very sure about that either but when I wash my car I put a towel on the engine so water dosn't drip on it. But I dont know about driving in rain or somthing.

The hood can get water in it, the engine compartment doesn't get effected by it, except some rust spots people were saying hey were getting.

I think you don't have to worry about the snow in southern california. Because no matter what, it will never snow. LOL. Anyways, when it rains and youre driving your evo, the water will be thrown out as air heat comes out of the vent. If the water do comes inside and touches the engine, it will dry fast and will even help cool down the engine. In some way, rain water do help the engine to cool down. Thats what I think.

It's vented towards the rear for heat extraction. You will not get much water in there under a normal wash. It won't hurt anything, the exhaust manifold will rust plenty on it's own either way.
Plus the enigine compartment is relatively water proof anyway nowadays. All electrical connections are weather-pak connetions.

what is pretty wild is how the rear window stays dry as long as you are driving at speed. What's the wiper for.

LOL, why would you do that? You don't wanna waste gas while washing your car would you? As original_majin said, put something on top of the engine bay to prevent the water from dripping inside. And don't let the engine running. Do this every time you wash your car and your evo will not have a problems at all.

The rear wiper is the best thing I've ever seen on a sedan car. It really helps when sometime any time of the year you got hard rain coming and it gives you full purpose to use that rear wiper and see better.

Washer fluid. It is alcohol based and works better than just water. It was intended to be waher fluid not water.

I was joking because once you are moving the window stays clear. I love the rear wiper being there, very nice to have.

Must be nice. All it's done is rain here in the East for the past 2 months! Worse then frakin Seattle. On the other hand, not to worry with the AWD.

I used to go out to Temecula all the time. I liked it out there, can't complain about the weather either.

I was led to think that it was 4k rpm for 1000 miles. Anyway, chill out, you're already off to a bad start.
