hey i got the same set up!!
HKS RS tube ,Apexi cone, Apexi box

and the HKS RS tube is the best induction tube you can have on the Evo.
Only the cone is really bad.
Wich is you can change it to the another one as you see....

DO NOT GET THE K&N TYPHOON KIT

I installed yesterday... i will remove it today
cause: loss of power, cut-off at around rpm 5

it seems that the tube is badly designed

The best filter IMO is the HKS RS Kit. Best dyno results. If you feel scared or that it allows alot of dirt through than you get a 3 layer element and replace it.

fuel cut? that might suggest that you're moving more air than before.. this is a good thing, you just need to tune for it if that's all it is.

Fuel cut is not an indication of a problem with the intake. Historically the typhoon has not fared well, but you need to have the correct facts.

Iveytune, contrary to what TTP vehemently suggested against, you would say that the HKS intake is one of the best you've seen?

I'm just looking for a definitive answer as to which intake performs the best. I know its all subjective but there have to be some sort of agreement as to what works well opposed to what doesn't....

We do still frown upon the HKS RS intake. However the pipe itself is excellent, the filter is still a big problem in its MAF HZ lowering qualities which require an ODDLY tuned map to linearly tune the fuel.

My OFFICIAL theory is that the HKS RS is designed to be run on an Evo with NO ECU TUNING as it brings the AFR from the factory rich 10's back up to mid 11's without any modification to the ECU.

HKS was either really smart or really stupid in designing this intake. I don't have enough information about what they were trying to accomplish when they designed it to make a final determination as of yet.

I got the Injen intake with the Upper Intercooler and Lower Intercooler piping. And lemme tell u man my Stock BOV sounds like an aftermarket one.....way too loud and u can hear the turbo spool up @ 2800 RPM....Sounds MEAN!!!

Therefore i recommend INJEN

The Injen intake does sound awesome...but well..only have one if you are going to get tuned real soon...it kills some torque and it only makes real HP if you are getting tuned...just fyi.

If i could do it over again...I would do some thing that could be fitted with an induction box (not sure if injen can) ...probably the HKS or ARC intake with a Kansai Service induction box or an ARC super induction box...
