Unhappy A bunch of weird issues

Ok, I'm about fed up with 's crap quality.

I have a bunch of weird things going on that may or may not be related.

First one is that my SRS light stays on. This happened a while back and I just hadn't had time to get it checked out. Plus, the dealer told me it was going to be a ridiculous rate because it's electrical.

Second, and most annoying, my windshield wipers like to just turn on randomly even though the switch is in the off position. Sometimes turning the car off and on again fixes the problem, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes turning on my right blinker fixes it, sometimes not. This usually happens in the morning if it's rained all night. It's embarrassing driving to work in broad daylight with my wipers on and I can't do anything about it. I'd have to admit it's gotta be pretty funny to watch, though.

Third, is the one I'm most worried about. It's kinda hard to explain. If I am coming to a stop, car is in neutral, I press down on the clutch, and as soon the nob into 1st gear (or 2nd if it's a turn), I hear a winding sort of sound (kinda sounds similar to how it sounds when you accelerate). This only happens in 1st and 2nd. My car was towed a while back and I know that they didn't use a flatbed. I don't think I noticed it at the same time, but thought I'd mention it if it's related.

Fourth, at idle, my oil light flickers.

Only mods to the car are a greddy timer, K&N cone filter, and APS bov. 65k miles.

Sorry if I'm venting. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your car is possesed.............. take it to a priest or something.
Sell it and get an STI.
Now start the flame.

No use flaming here. Sounds like the SRS and wiper and oil light thing MAY be all electrically related. And it sounds like the rain is causing something to short and making the wipers come on.

I had a problem with the SRS light in my eclipse. couldn't pass inspection. Hate to say this, but just pulled the bulb. They said the same thing to me about something needing to be reset but everything SHOULD work.

I doubt the winding is related. I get that sound on mine, but downshifting...a high pitched sound, but only in the beginning of driving.

I'd bet that winding is your transfer case. After my accident the tow company showed up with a normal truck and I sent them back for the flatbed. I'm not sure if normal towing will destroy the TC, but it can't be good for it.

This is most likely the answer to your first 2 problems. Check for corossion, if there is any, hard wire all of the wires on that harness. Simpley using electrical cleaner will fix it until the next time it rains. Its a pain in the A** but it will resolve the problem.

The winding is during downshifting, say when I'm taking a turn. I slow down before the turn and downshift into 2nd.

I'm wondering if the oil light is related to the winding sound, because the steering whell trembles a bit at idle too, though I can't remember if that happened originally or not. The oil light thing has been going on for a while now and I just never got it checked out.

I wouldn't even know where to start looking for corrosion. I'm a n00b at this. Any suggestions?

How much do you guys think it would cost me to replace/repair the TC if that's what's wrong?

Well, i am hoping someone else chimes in here because I get a slight sound when downshifting, which may be natural in these vehicles...not sure. And it is usually if i downshift hard and don't brake.

Trembling at idle...from time to time, but not every stop or every day.

IMO it could be the Greddy TT. With mine installed it causes weired flukes; ACD lights light up (all 3), HIDs stay on, reverse lights stay on...to much hassle. The decel noise doesn't sound like the transfercase death whine, maybe brakes rubbing, since you only hear it in slower speeds.

very good possibility that the greddy tt is the problem. double check your wiring. you may need to rully remove it and see if it is the problem

Well, it happens even if I don't have my foot on the brake pedal. Doesn't sound anything like brakes.
