did timing belt now nasty vibration. need help

hey guys i just did my timing belt and balance shaft belt. the car runs now but there is a nasty vibration at like 3-5k. all the timing marks are at TDC. i've taken it apart like 6 times already so im pretty much a pro at dis assembling it . is there some special way the balance shaft and oil pump pully is suppose to be on?

"If you take the cover off yourself, you can be sure if its out of time by lining up the timing marks and then removing a bolt in the back of the block and sticking a screwdriver in it. If the screwdriver will barely go in, its out of time. If it goes far in, its in time."

i read this off another post. not sure which one though. i dont see how it can be "out of time" if the timing marks are dead on. and what if i do this and the timing mark isnt at TDC? should i do it anyway?.. anyways if anyone could help that'd great

The balance shaft is not in sync with the crank.

You have it 360 degrees out.

There is a bolt that is facing toward the front of the car. It is gold if I remember. It is by the lower turbo bracket.

You need to take the bolt out. Then you need to stick a screwdriver in there when the motor is at TDC. If it barley goes in then you need to rotate just the oil pump and balance shaft until you can put the screw driver in. Then when it is in realign all your timing marks again.

oil pump AND balance shaft? (how do i move both at the same time?) and i did this already but the timimg mark was off on the oil pump so i just took out the screw driver and did it by hand.

you pretty much have to take it apart again.....
its just one pulley you need to rotate, the one of the bottom far right.
that bolt is right behind the down pipe, so you need to drop that....

so that one bolt will take care of both the balance shaft oil pump one?

no
i am sorry for confusing you
that bolt is the bolt you need to remove and stick a screw driver in it. if it goes in deep, then the balance shaft is in phase. if it does not, then turn the pulley one pull turn.
the balance shaft is part of the oil pump. there is only one pulley.

The small balance shaft belt is DIFFERENT from the oil pump balance shaft assembly. The small belt aligns with the mark on the oil pump housing while the crank is at TDC.
The cam timing belt, cam gears, crank and oil pump drive sprocket have a different set of markings.
You need to make sure that the oil pump shaft is not 180* off. Do you have a manual handy? It explicitly goes thru the process.

your just confusing him more.
the only one you can get out of sync is the balance shaft pulley on the main timing belt. and it would be 360* out of phase, not 180.

The sprocket may seem to be 360* off, but thats because of the oil pump gearing. Its 180*. But since it seems I am confusing everyone, I'll leave it to rest.

i apologize
but you are right in that sense. internally, the outer balance shaft is 180* out of phase internally, and the sproket must be turned 360*.
