is 450whp possible?

First of all my car is currently stock, and i've been saving up alot of money in order to start modding it.

1st question I have is 450whp possible with a stock turbo?
2nd question how much money would I be looking at, I mean I don't mind using used exhaust, gauges, and etc... etc.. so cheap as possible but good parts and i don't mind buying new as well. I know it varies but a rough range.
3rd is a 2.3 stroker kit going to help me get there? I have read up alittle about it.
4th my many worry about the car is my tranny, or tranny's in general is it going to hold up well with that much power?

Info about the car.

Stock turbo VIII and God tuning (or Lucas English) on E85 and quite a bit of work probably about 429whp. He isnt using a full IX turbo, just a 10.5 hotside on a 2.0. Read it about here:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ghlight=429whp

There might 10 or 15hp in the IX compressor cover...maybe.

I don't mean to be rude when I say this so please don't take it that way....

But the bottom line here is that your trying to get as much as humanly possible from that car with a stock turbo which normally means you don't have enough money to mod it correctly. Once you get up to that kinda horsepower its only natural that things will start breaking and so on. Make sure that when you mod you have enough money to FIX as well... just my .02

With all the basic bolt ons and cams your looking around 370 or so. Add some meth and you should be real close to 400 if not a little more. If it's 450 your looking for, save your money for a nice ball bearing turbo. Do you have E85 where your at?

I think what you need to do is find out what you want your car to do....

Do you want 400 whp or 450 just to have it or are you going to do something with it?

Just so you know, I had a 2003 lancer evo 8 and with a stroker motor my car pulled 500 whp on a 2.3 liter with a 50 trim turbo on methanol.

The added torque of the 2.3 liter is insane, it's truely a brutal car but I would look at is going with a full 9 turbo or even the Green turbo to help get you there so you are not running the stock turbo dry.

Think about getting the tranny and transfer case done by SHEP Racing, amazing transmissions.... Figure in a cost of $1200 Plus for the Exedy twin Disc Clutch, whats all the power if your not putting it to the ground?

Many different options, my friend here on the board, MIDWESTMONSTER is putting down some crazy numbers with an AMS 50 trim Turbo kit...... Something to think about maybe.

I would try to accomplish one thing at a time, just to change your car from stock to 450 whp, it's a completely different car at that point. Things start to break, ALWAYS tuning the car.......

DO your build in stages, you may find that you don't like your car at that horsepower level for everyday driving.

If you have any questions shoot me a PM.

Steve

PS. GOOD LUCK

Cant really say never really timed a 0-60. I can give drag numbers in a bit. I prefer RR than drag but I will go soon

If you want a fun car, do a 2.3 stroker with the stock turbo....... TORQUE AND SPOOL UP IS INSANE........

I road in one and I could not keep from smiling if I was to do it all over again, I would have driven the car on the 2.3 stock turbo with all bolt ons for awhile.....

450 whp might be possible with a fully ported and polished race head, with revolvers, meth + race gas, 2.4 4G64 block, and a really sick tune. It would be close, and the turbo would NOT last long at these kinds of levels either.
