how exactly does meth injection work? after you install what else needs to be done? and does it just kick in by itself?

 

Good Question Im a newbie and have been wanted to this but I have searched and never really found the answer to this...

 

you put a nozzle in your upper intercooler piping right near the throttle body and inject alky or meth into your engine to either lower the intake temperature or raise the octane. Both of which lets you raise your boost and timing which makes more power. there are progressive systems that inject different amounts based on different things. some are on duty cycle of the injectors. The system is not running full blast all the time. Some also inject based on boost level. like a partial mist at 19 psi and a full mist at 23 psi and up. Its user configurable.

Meth = Higher octane

ok so once it is installed you dont have to mess with it right, it just flows natural, and do you need a tune after you get the meth injection? and what are some good cheap meth kits?

 

Alky and Meth both raise the octane of the fuel. With alky/meth injection, you spray through the upper IC pipe right before the throttle body. When in boost usually starting about 10psi the pump starts spraying partially and full blast at higher boost. What that does is cool the intake charge and therefore raises the octane of the fuel. The meth is cheaper and works a little better than alky.

 

Once its installed you do not have to mess with it. Except to refill the meth/alky tank. and yeah you do have to get it tuned for it.

This is a common misconception that I fell into once as well. Meth does not raise the octane of the fuel however it does cool the intake temperature.

Back on topic, you will need a tune once you get meth injection installed in your car.

 

Meth injection won't change the octane of the fuel in your tank but it will raise the knock threshold of that fuel in the engine.

 

...which in turn acts like a higher octaned, used.

Also, alchy injection can lower exhaust gas temps up to 200 degrees.

 

what if......you installed one on an NA engine? would it blow it into shreds or actually do something?

 

From what i have been told from my Evo buddies who have this mod... it is best to have a stand alone system.......
