New here, shopping around...

Hey all,

Another newbie here! I am currently thinking of buying a 2006 Evo(rally red hopefully) and came across this great site. I've been doing a lot of research to make sure I find the right car for myself. I really love the look of the Evo and can't complain about the power. I've always owned used cars, so I am in the market for something new, powerful, stylish & of course, reliable. I just want a nice daily driver that satisfies me and I think right the Evo has everything I'm looking for. Any trim but the RS, as I have to have my A/C here in the Florida.

My suv daily driver just isn't cutting it anymore for me, I'm too much of a car guy to drive a plain suv. I will trade in the SUV and sell the bike to help fund the new car. My conquest has been down for upgrades for a while and I really miss the turbo; n/a just doesn't cut it. The quest will continue to be the weekend toy, which I spend more time modding then driving anyway.

Any input is welcome, good or bad! Later this week I will continue looking at places to finance and get the best deal. Then to the dealer(only been e-mailing them so far) to see how long it will take them to locate or order one.

This is long enough, sorry for the length!

Just waiting to hear back from the dealer now, as they are trying to find one for me first. They seem worried about me being able to finance it(haven't run my credit yet ), guess they have had a lot of Evo lookers who couldn't afford.

I didn't like my Bank's rate, so I'll either see what the dealer gives or look into a credit union.

More later...

Make sure and get an insurance quote. Will be nothing like your SUV. These are amongst the highest cost to insure of any vehicles on the road.

I've been checking on insurance and it was more than the suv, but not outrageous. I have insurance on the bike, so after I sell it I will have that money to put towards the evo's insurance.

I thought I read the RS model did not come with A/C, guess I read it wrong.

My bank's rates were just OK, but i STILL got pre-approved for my loan through them. When i went to the dealer to buy my evo they gave me a bad interest rate... and then i mentioned to them that i had already been pre-approved with a better interest rate and acted pretty indifferent while they seemed to start hustling and bustling with the phones again.

I ended up getting a better rate that way and financing it with mitsubishi.

Soundboy4, that's good you got a better rate that way. I might have to try and see if that will work with me.

Try and put down a big down payment, too. Always helps.

I won't be able to put a down payment as large as half, but at the very least I can do 1/3. All depends on what they will give me for the suv; I could always sell it privately and try to make more. I'm in no rush, so the longer I wait the more I can put down. One week till I'm 25, so at least insurance will be a bit less!
