Sti to Evo

Well due to changes in my life I had to sell a 05 sti that was completely paid off.The car was not my dd so it was super clean and modded with mostly aps parts and a mitsu td06-20g. I miss the car terribly and would like to find a used evo that I can afford (budget max 15k).I work on cars for a living and I would buy one with a blown motor or head gasket.Ive looked on the boards and ebay and not really having any luck.Is my budget realistic for this project or should I just buy a wrx which is cheaper and also slower ? The evo would help me forget about the sti but the wrx will leave me wanting more especially coming from an sti.

You could try www.erepairables.com. Make sure you look under Lancer as well and not just Evolution as a lot of times Evo's get tossed into the normal Lancer category.

Cough up 2-3K more and you could probably find a high mileage 03.

With your15k you could find one that needs motor work and have the money to fix it and have the money to fix it.

G/L with your search.

Search the cars forsale section on here, I saw one for 10k not too long ago.

Definetly check this site out...there are a couple in there under lancer that could be possible.

it runs and not too bad a price... maybe even talk them down a bit... i'd ask the seller if they still have it.
i have never seen this in person only on ebay...

Thank You everyone for your input,im having withdrawal symptoms by not having a car that I can throw around.I may try to wait and get something a little nicer but if I see a good deal it will be hard to pass up even if I have to pull the motor.I really appreciate the decent response from the people on this board its a refreshing change from some of the people over at nasioc.

Good luck!

Might be worth saving up a couple thousand more for a decent Evo.

http://signin.motors.com.izabelaweb....rice=13,500.00 What do you guys think about this one ? I asked the seller why its so cheap and he said he needs money for his house.I dont know enough about the quirks that the evo has so im a little skeptical.

the cheapest i've ever seen an evo on autotrader or cars.com was 16k, you need to re-up on your funds before you buy a car to compensate for shipping

Needing "house money" is an old tactic to justify dumping a problem vehicle without making too many people suspicious, and when most people think they are getting a deal they tend to buy sooner than later.

Just a buyer beware.

why would you want to buy a car that's going to be just as much up-keep as your STi was? if you want to go cheaper, i would just get a wrx or an srt. cheap power.
