megan or not

So i made the mistake of buying a XS power tubular header.

What a joke the flange isnt even flat so there for there is no way to not have an exhaust leak.

Question i have for you guys is has anyone had anyluck with the Megan tubular header?

I was thinking about picking up the megan hearder and the megan 02 housing?

Should i spend money on that or is it a waste?

Am i goning to feel any gains?

If not megan then is there another header or should i stick with stock?

Thanks a ton for any imput

there is NO POWER unless its a racing (tubular) header

so don't waste your money on any of them.

don't buy the Megan Header. They crack. Almost all headers crack supposely except the Full Race Header which retails for $1000.

Just get your stock header ported.

I have had the megan mani on my evo for about a year now. No cracks or anything. I put it next to the xs power and there is definately a difference in tube thickness. The xs powers tubes were very thin, I could see that one cracking very quickly. As far as the megan goes, 200 bucks isn't a bad price either.

I have a megan Racing 02 housing. If you search, many people have had success with this 02 housing along with the "ebay" 02 housing. I purchased mine from TTP.

It helps with turbo spool and prob around 5whp (who knows).

well seems like you need some porting and coating instead of any bootleg manifolds. Your stock manifold is great man just port it and coat it!

www.paradigmperformanceinnovation.net

go to that site and get the manifold EXTREMED ported and coated.....i have the..

-Extreme ported/coated exhaust manifold
-ported/coated 10.5 hotside
-ported/coated o2 housing (which is great cause they use the ebay one)
-ported intake manifold
-ported 65mm throttle body

i bought those from paradigm performance innovation and they are awesome at answering and helping you out. If you like to get any of these parts just call joe at 989.482.9841 and tell him evohang gave you the number to call regarding the parts you would like, and also joe is a great guy he'll help as much as he can. If you would like to see some pics or video or whatever PM me and ill show you.

I have the Megan mani and Ebay ss autochrome O2 housing...i heat wrapped the mani. I have had that manifold glow red several times and daily drive the car...i have driven it on 1000 mile road trips and its still as good as the day i installed it...

P.S. Dont buy the megan mani off of Ebay... buy it directly from Megan or an authorized distributer... it seems that the Megan stuff you find on ebay is not spot on as far as fitment is concerned... i learned this the hard way with a megan exhaust for my tC a couple years back

I don't want to come off as sided but obviously that will be hard to do here so rather consider this direct.

Using both the Tubular style manifolds and O2 housing will result in a problem waiting to happen. The fact is your are expecting the thin walled tubular manifold to hold up the entire turbo and downpipe. This is like driving on borrowed time and will at some point fail. Even with the Megan manifold which I have used and had it fail.

You can make as much if not power power with the stock ported manifold. In addition the steel will act as a heatsink and hold the heat in much better than the tubular style manifolds in question here. Even if you coat the tubular manifold it will still emit more heat than the stock manifold. If you want a reliable daily driver with no worries of a manifold breaking then you want to keep the stock manifold or a cast design.

You can get the extreme ported manifold without coating from us for $140 shipped when you provide your core. This is the best you can get without coating.

There is no reason to upgrade from the stock manifold unless you are going full race or getting a turbo that doesn't fit the flange! Porting/coating are A-ok, but there are aplenty of good mods to do before that.

Don't make a mistake and buy a critical part that is a cheap knock-off twice.

Well I am trying to help someone out that doesn't want to spend a grand.

And there is a good point to port the stock manifold because of all of the casting flash and imperfections. Gasket matching is the next reason!
