mbc vs ebc
Do you have any other mods? MBC costs less, its great for starters. EBC holds boost better. I used it in my old Evo and on my 04 STI. Its also nice to be able to select different boost levels. My preference is the Greddy Profec B Spec II.
I bought an EBC and there were so many settings. Later I decided to sell it since it made it so complicated to set up. I got the Forge MBC from Buschur Racing-80 bucks. Easy to set up and cheap.

just keep it simple : boost gauge and halmann manual pro boost controller.
Most EBC need too much attantion and knowlidge to make it work RIGHT. /no shouting, high lights/ Also remember as more vacuum hose and settings, etc. you have ,your possibility something will go wrong is equaly greater. Why you need that?
Not to mention the price. So you can do put more money some where else, to get the car faster or it look nicer or get a wastgate actuator...
But this is just my opinion.

My votes:
EBC = Profec B II. Had one on my Teg. Wasnt too hard to setup, but was confusing at first. Held boost like a champ. Initial cost is over 4 times the average MBC.
MBC = Forge. On my Evo. simple and best of all, it works damn well! (those that have used pressure bleed valves know what Im talking about). Cheaper than EBCs considerably. I knew I was going to stay on stock boost for a bit, so I opted for the cheapest solution.
With all settings the same, an EBC will hold boost much better than any MBC. But Joe is correct: the WG would be the next item to upgrade if you are wanting more stable boost/less taper.
