Gauges Question,,, Need Help And Opinions!!!
Gauges Question,,, Need Help And Opinions!!!
So I just installed my 3 defi gauges in my ABS panel from Gruppe-S. I got Boost, Water Temp, and Oil Press. I decided to move my Boost gauge up on top of my dash, now I need a new gauge to fill the whole.
What do you think I should go with and more importantly, why? Fuel Pressure, EGT, or Oil Temp.
My car isn’t my DD, it’s mostly a stay at home project car that I have big plans for. I don’t plan on taking it to the track often, I may, but its mostly for street use. I’m thinking about fuel pressure gauge, here’s my logic.
From what I know, EGT is used for 2 things.
1)To let you know when things are really burning up under the hood(like on track days)
2)To tell you when the car’s leaning out
I plan on eventually getting an AEM wideband so I am not as worried about this gauge.
Oil Temp raises as oil pressure decreases, Simple inverse relationship. I already have an oil pressure gauge.
This, by process of elimination leaves me with fuel pressure. In the future I plan on doing the fuel system over so I feel its useful for that as well.
So what do you think? I could use some help and opinions…
Oh, lastly my car is getting tuned in the next week or so and my friend keeps saying that when getting tuned EGT is very useful… So…

I'd personally say just leave it in the pannel and spend the 200 bucks on something else. Other than the wideband, you've really got what you need.
I'd say get the wideband now but the AEM is only in 52mm, perhaps you could make a fitting for it to widen the diameter and then squeeze it in the 60mm pannel?
As far as getting tuned, EGT is not nearly as helpful compared to the Wideband. Are you tuning with a datalogger?
What are your mods?
Let us know what you decide....

I was thinking about trying to fabricate something so that the wideband would fit in the dash. I really just dont like having to look down when lookin gat my boost gauge, thats why I wanna move it.
Dont know exactly what a datalogger is, Enlighten me...
Mods are Tanabe TBE with Test Pipe, K&N Drop-in, Walboro 255, profec B Set to 21psi. And like I said, getting it tuned in a week or so.

Are you familiar with evoscan or mitsulogger? These are the two most popular dataloggers used with evos.
Using an USB cable (tactrix cable) you plug into your OBDII port, you can take a 3rd gear pull and monitor all sorts of data. It takes all the data and places is into an excel sheet. Some examples include RPM, knock sum, and load calc.
There is also the option of hooking up a wideband to it and it will log all of the AFR for you. There’s a company called innovate that makes a very reasonable and probably the most popular wideband kits that you can hook up into the dataloggers. For this reason, you can buy either a portable wideband controller and serial cable that hooks into your computer and will display the AFR in excel or you can get the kit to include a mountable gauge (sounds like you want that).

Anyways, like I mentioned earlier you can monitor your car’s knock using the log and make necessary changes if need be. I would go with the tactrix cable, evoscan, and an innovate wideband.

I don't think so. You need an EMS. See below.
"You can use our single-channel controller module or single-channel Gauge-Type controller module. If you elect to use the controller module and wish to view your AFR in real time, you will need to purchase an AEM UEGO digital display gauge, or monitor AFR from your laptop if you have a stand-alone engine management system that has this capability".
