Check out the Top Gear evo vs sti videos on you tube. Those are always fun to watch.

Correct. As far as I remember, most publications picked the Evo overall. From my recollection, the only time I remember the STI being ranked higher than the Evo in a head-to-head comparison was in Motor Trend when they compared a silver '06 Evo IX MR to a blue '06 STI, with the main reason being price, which is why I sometimes wish magazines would use the standard models rather than always using the MR not only so the Evo could rank higher when it comes to price but also so I can see how well a standard IX performs with its different weight and gearing. Also, Top Gear once picked the STi over the Evo, explaining they had "no idea why," even though the Evo was over a second faster around their test track.

I think this is very well said.

When I drove STI, It was more comfortable around town, and I'd say just as fast. But Evo was much more responsive, and felt more in control. Over all, in stock form , I think they are very close.

EVO 4 LIFE!!!!!!! **** STI lol

There both fun its all preference. and it depends on what models you get.

I would pick an STI over an evo 8 SE

But if u jump into the MR with the bliestein suspention its a whole different ball game

After reading 1,000 of these kinds of threads, I've gathered this....

If you do not modify cars, both the Evo and the STI are awesome cars in stock form. You cannot go wrong with either vehicle. I was back and forth 10 times between the two myself. Price was the difference maker, so I went with the Evo.

If you modify your cars, the Evo is hands down the better platform. More responsive to mods, much easier to tune and work on, and more durable.

How many stock evo's are around? How many stock STI's are around?

Ummm no you're wrong, the STi is a 2.5 liter and has been since it got here. The old WRXs (up to 2003 I think) were 2.0 l.
