Newbie here

Hey I just got into the whole Evo scene after learning that the new X will be available where I live. I just have some questions about the previous Evo's (IX VIII). First, how reliable is the Evo model? In Canada we get some pretty harsh winters, is it up for snow? Also, I know the X and the IX share different engines but how well does the Evo respond to bolt on mods like exhaust and intake? Thanks.

A lot of evo owners here live up in areas where it snows a lot.

Bolt on mods, the evo loves a free flowing exhaust system. As far as, intake, you might need a tune.

Welcome to the forums, BTW

Welcome, but please use the newbie forum when you have newbie questions and search before making new threads. The rules state you must do these two things, so it's a good idea to follow them.

If you know the X has a different motor than the IX, then I don't see how you could ask us how it responds to mods. Not already knowing how the current Evos respond to mods is hard to believe. That would require having 0 knowledge of the Evo.

Well you have to understand Warr that in Canada there are virtually NO Evo's. I have yet to see a Evo in person. So without any Evo's how could I have taken interest into the car enough to know how well it responds to mods. My gut feeling says it will respond very well considering it is a turbo car. Maybe its not a good excuse but I'd be readily able to tell you anything about Supras, Skylines, or STi's :P

for the Evo IX , it will respond well to mods, look at Warr Signature for the power packages

Warrtalon/Buschur Packages:
IX - $1270 = 330whp
VIII - $1575 = 300whp

so it's easy to make power with lil Money .
Stock VIII put about 240whp
and Stock IX put about 250-260whp because it had a better turbo so it's more easier to mod than the VIII .. but both are the same Motors 4G63 and IX comes with MIVEC

From the Evo Generation from the First Evo 1 till the Evo IX all Nine Generations had the same Engine 4G63 ,, and it is proven that it's bulletproof and make awsome power. and the X is just a whole New Direction for Mitsubishi with the evo .. so no Info is provided at the moment, till it actually released and gets into the hands of tuners.

Because Evos, like STIs, have been rocking the world for over 15 years, and because it only takes a few minutes of research to find out...

it may be a cool car but its not a cool evo man...it should for sure be a similar looking model...if mitsu woulda made a similar looking evo and the X version but called it a different name, mitsu would rise up sooo much in popularity

450... you are trying to argue with a brick wall. Warr prey's on people like you. I see that he was very helpful in his posts.
