Talking Brand New Evo Owner...suggestions welcome

Hey guys...I got myself a new Evo IX MR last week (with 22 miles on it) and have been loving every second of it
It's crazy how many stares it gets and how everybody in a civic or acura thinks you wanna race them on the street.
I'm looking into upgrading it, and have a pretty good knowledge of parts and cars in general, so I'm not a total noob. I want to be able to push around 315-350 WHP on the stock turbo.
So far I've got about 3g's to blow, but don't want anything unnecessary, been thinking of: New filter, new exhaust, ECU flash, etc.
anybody have any suggestions on the best brands to get the most power of these are other modifications? Maybe somebody has around that WHP on a stock turbo too, do you mind sharing what you've done?
Thanks guys, any info is appreciated

Ok, i have some progress. So far my best bets are to go with a TBE (dont know which brand yet, buschur or hks maybe), Boost controller, 93gas, ecu reflash (dynoflash), and maybe fuel pumps (walbro)
so far, i can get all this decently for around $1500.
I'll update this post over the weeks with updates
any suggestions still welcome

I'd learn to drive the evo first before going right in to modding. I've had mine for a year and half, still stock. I still don't feel like i've pushed the evo to the limit yet.

of course i don't just do highway pulls or drag racing. If thats your thing, then modding early is cool. atleast learn how to launch before you go crazy. And if straightline racing is your thing, i'd add a clutch now.

Oh and I'd spend the 3 g's on bondurant or skip barber racing school.

At the risk of sounding excessive... but the point is still there to be made. Modding an Evo is fun and easily makes power. So much so that sometimes people forget to actually drive what they got before they change it. If you want to mod just for the sake of modding and making power, thens sure, jump right into it. I'd recommend looking at some of the known shops that have 'stage kits' and considering the make up of those kits. But the fact remains that it will not really be your car. Personally, I believe in driving it to it's limit and finding out what I feel I need in my car. For example... if you find yourself an auto-x junky, you may find yourself dropping most of that money in suspension with stock power if the Bilsteins don't play nice with your style of driving. Just my 2 cents. Congrats on the new car and have fun with it... shouldn't be to hard to do that

well i'm not really inexperienced at driving. i've been driving stick since forever, and have had plenty of practice with many different cars, mainly being my dads 2000 porsche carrera. i really liked that car, and drive quite frequently whenever i can nag my dad to let me borrow it. i also have some wins under my belt with it, mainly on closed off streets and long strips
so im confident in myself as a driver to start upgrading all ready, and so far am leaning heavily now towards road race engineering, they're about 20 min. away
as for the 93 gas, i meant racing fuel, which is what the 76 gas station offers by my house. actually, a lot of 76's have that option in SoCal

I'm not saying your bad driver. you could be a very good driver. but i seriously doubt you are a good driver in the evo after just having it. plus AWD is a whole different ball game.

The evo will make you feel like a great driver, thats a beauty of it.

but if you want the HP, go for it bro. i'm most postive you'll enjoy it.

Dude, if you're in Pomona you should just go to Colton up the road to Tuning Technologies.

Alfred has tuned the fastest FLASH ONLY EVO in the U.S. right now. Plus, they can do a custom exhaust for you that will fit your car perfect.

Why order anything when you can just go down the street. I use to live in Rancho so I know where you're at...

Look'em up! www.tuningtechnologies.net

ya, i know what you mean about AWD. the porsche (RWD) is amazing, but this thing blows it outta the water on curves and handling. im gonna go to the track a few times first, and break it in more (so far at 600miles) before i put anything on it

and tuning technologies? ive heard of them, but i got recommended to RRE from reading the forums. i'll pay TT a visit today and see whats up. the more choices the better
