MR question

Yes I did a search, but did not find what i wanted. My computer is dead slow and I have two little girls to chase around so I will post a stupid question because I dont have all day to play on the computer.

Besides MIVEC what significant differences do the 05 MR and 06 MR's have? I do believe that the turbo, suspension, tranny and aluminum pannels are the same. The seats are ugly on the 05 vs 06 seats. I plan on buying a modded 05 MR and wondered if I am better off to buy a new 06. I never have good luck buying a modded car for one thing, but the mods are almost the same that I would do. Money wise it makes way more sense to buy a used one with 10k in it vs 10K more for new evo plus 10k in mods.

thanks

I really couldn't tell you which is a better deal. If it were me I would buy a new stock '06. I'd be afraid to buy a car w/ that much work done to it, plus you don't know who did the work or if it was done right.

That is the truth. You never do know if it was done right.

if i were you, id get a gsr or a gsr se

i personally dont think the MR is worth the extra cash cuz the 5 spd is stronger and apparently gets better gas mileage.

+1. My main concern when buying my Evo used was the trans and tcase. Mine was only mildly modded, but i made sure to make sure to listen for every noise i could. Also if they have that much in the car i hope they have the receipts for everything.

thanks

Seats are different, turbo is different, rear tail lights, front bumper, rear wing has the inner vertical wing painted(not carbon), vortex is painted same color as the body,Mivec, valve cover plastic different, valve cover different, steering wheel is black on the IX(Silver on the 8).

I am not looking or googling but that is what I can remember.

The local dealer here wnats 40K, but I have worked on the salesman a little and all they will come down to is 36 something.

How is the turbo different? I thought that they carried over the 05 MR turbo onto all 06 models. This car pumps out 345 to the wheels. I am sure after I get used to the power I would upgrade the turbo to get 375-400hp.

I am suprised that the 5 spd gets better milage. I pack on 60-70 miles a day and thought the extra gear would help. I dont plan on drag racing it so if the 6 spd is a little weaker I am not too concerned, but if the 5 spd is really the way to go above and beyond the 6 spd then I would buy a new gsr.

an 05 MR is an evo8 and 06 mr is an evo9, there is a noticeable difference between the turbos but i dont know exactly what

36k sounds like a lot for an MR unless thats out the door price

IMO the MR is overrated and overpriced for what it has compared to the gsr se

Probably the biggest plus for an MR compared to the rest is the bilstein suspension, but you can get the suspension as low as $400 used from someone.

the evo IX MR stock is faster than the evo VIII MR with "basic mods." I would go with the stock evo IX
