intake

So there are so many posts on air intakes i decided to start another!!

I am looking at the K&N typhoon kit, 69-6543TP. Is anyone using this setup? i have a K&N drop in right now, but i am looking to go complete intake setup. I already have TBE, drop in, and a flash. But im switching exhaust, getting a new front mount, and want a complete intake setup.... along with your fuel pump, GSC S1's and injectors....

but as for the intake... does anyone have suggestions for best flow? and shortest pipe but still keeping most of the heat out. Thanks!

Everyone will tell you to not use the K&N Typhoon intake. I'm not one of those people. I tuned a car with one installed and it worked great ... airflow curve smoothed out beautifully and the fuel trims didn't get too far off. It sounds nice too. People will claim it is horrible for the car, but on the IX I tuned it worked very well.

That said, the Buschur bolt on filter works nicely and is very affordable. It bolts directly to the MAF as well. Pair that with the Buschur/Samco/blah blah intake pipe and you are set.

Also, Apex'i makes great open element filters and has a kit for the Evo. It has an optional induction box that helps keep heat out.

Good luck.

if you get a typhoon make sure you will cut out that little tounge in the intake pipe.

HKS RS in my opinion... I have experience w/ just the panel and also w/ just a simple K&N type cone w/ maf adapter. Both work well, but the HKS RS flows incredibly well. The intake pipe smoothens flow and in combination w/ the built in velocity stack in the power flow cage(for filter).. it seems to provide alot of smooth airflow to the turbo. I'll be the 1st to admit the filtration does suck. but as for performance it works well. On the IXs they seem to adapt well to it. But getting a tune for it is best. i hear 8s dont do so well w/out a tune. But after a tune to calibrate everything... i think it works very well. Its extremely loud though, but i like the sound of rushing air from the turbo. Just my opinion... (you will get alot of negative remarks for both full intake systems. Oddly noone says anything once you upgrade to a 35r etc.. and they by default have custom full intakes..? go figure)

I may be interested in your intake and exhaust once you get the one ones. I'll let you know.

Someone on here did a pretty comprehensive test in intakes a while back and the buschur performed the best. I wish I could find that thread

edit I found it but it was just a test between a drop in and the buschur
