Well, I am potentially in the market for a used evo and am looking at the VIII's. What should be more important to my decision, 2003 vs 2005 or just straight up mileage?

I guess this leads to another question, how many miles is too many? I was thinking in the 30k mile range but is that low? Could I go higher without too much more worry?

Thanks for the quick replies!

really hard to tell its better to just check everyone of them out i wouldent skip over any just because of the year. theone in the best shape could be the 03 but you might skip over it because of the year so good luck

Well I bought my 05' with 50k miles for 20k out the door, with a full service record. IMO it depends on what your looking for, these cars as long as they're taken care of by the previous owner(s) miles really shouldn't matter. And as far as the year, all of the Evo's have or will have the clear coat fade generally on the carbon fiber part of the wing.
Higher milage 05' at a good price= get it
lower mileage 03'ish at a good price = get it

I think on average your looking for cars that have been driven around 12,000 miles per year. Even if it's more though, i think MORE IMPORTANTLY your looking for solid maintenance records from the owner.

the type of owner and how the car was maintianed/driven.

I'd rather buy an 03 with 100,000 miles on it than an 06 with 5,000 if the 06 was driven by an idiot who launched all the time.

amen, I would rather buy a car with higher miles (most likely more highway) than a car that has been driven in the city all the time.
