Working on Evos

What do people here use to work on Evos? Do you use ramps or jack and jack stands?

Obviously, jacks and jack stands are needed for suspension work, but ramps are nice for the more frequent oil change. Can you use ramps to install exhaust and down pipe?

What are your experiences? And what brands do you recommend? Thanks.

I use ramps. I've done the exhaust, downpipe, etc with them. i put the back wheels on the ramp when i did the catback. the ones I have are too steep though, so my front lip hits them. so i have to put some shorty 2x4's in front of the ramps to get it started.

+2, get some good wood and a quick set of ramps from the local auto store and you're good, especially with lowered suspension, huge ease for simple things like oil changes

I just have stock suspension, but I do have a front lip. Where did you get your ramps and how much?

I really like the ramps shown here:

They cost way too much. I think is ridiculous. I think my cousin got some $30 ramps from Sears for his Camry. The jump from $30 to $300 is a little absurd.

Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart. They carry filters and also ramps, the ramps at Wal-Mart work great and are like $25-30 bucks, brand is Rhino Ramps or something like that.

Personally I have always used jacks and jack stands. Most jacks don't fit under my cars without using an expensive slim aluminum jack so I drive up onto 2x4s first and then slide the jack under.

Ramps do work great for quick jobs at either end though. Cheap too.

i used to use jack stands too, but my buddy just got me thinking about ramps since he changes oil a lot. it seems a little faster, but you can't rotate tires with ramps

I normally just flip my car over. I don't like to worry about the car falling on me

Ramps are the bomb unless you need the car off the ground. I have both but use the ramps alot more than the jack and jackstands. Walmart ramps are the best, a stock height Evo can drive right up on them forward or backwards.

I buy filters and crush washers at Mitsubishi and keep my sales receipts. Oil is Mobil 1 from walmart.
