Im new to the evos and am just wondering if someone can explain the differences between the VIIIs and IXs. Also wat years of the cars are better than others to modify or are they essentially all the same? Thanks for any help

All the quickest and fastest EVOs are VIIIs.

An VIII can be bought for much less, thereby leaving you more money for mods. I'd say dollar for dollar the VIII is the better value. But I do admit I'm prejudice.

You are much more likely to find good used mod parts for the VIII. I have a used IX turbo, MR DV, and cams. Much harder to find used upgrade parts for the IX.

The VIII has been around much longer, therefore there is a much broader selection of mod parts available, and sometimes at lower prices.

Since it has been around longer there is a lot more known about the ECU code in the VIII.

So, if you are loaded, buy the Bugatti Veyron, if not buy the VIII.

Just do a quick search and you'll find alot of info. There are so many differences but really they are not all that different once you start modding

Evo 9 has a bigger stock turbo, better stock wheels, leather and suade recaro seats, instead of blue seats, and of course, the mivec. not knocking 8's, they have seniority..

Ok... Like all mentioned above the IX's have MIVEC, the larger turbo, better seats, better wheels (BBS on the SE and MR models). The best of the VIII's though is the 2005 as it comes with the larger 10.5 hotside turbo. It also comes with the same active center diff as the IX's, but the 03-04's did not have this.

Just as a reference to how mods take better to the IX's the IX's with an exhaust, intake, fuel pump, and tune will make the same power as an VIII with the same mods plus cams.

I'll handle that.....moving. And to the OP:

This question has been asked and answered many times over. Posting it yet again not only clogs up the search engine, but goes against our rules. Please search before asking a FAQ next time; there is a lot of good info here if you take the time to find it.
