Evo VIII 9.8 hotside vs IX 10.5 hotside

I'm looking into changing my turbo for a IX 10.5 hotside.... but before i get into all that... I just wanted to know what does it actually do, will i make a huge hp increase? and will it need to be tuned as soon as i put it in there? is it worth changing the turbo..? or should i go fp green like everyone is sayn and be done with it? I want to make around 400awhp and stop there but want a nice dd, so wil the turbo hold up?

Let me know anyinfo i've looked and i can't find anything explaining the difference i know its compression

the hotside comes in a Diffrent part than the turbo
you can get the hotside without the turbo ! it's about $200 or so.
but if you got the chance to get an IX turbo, than go ahead a worth of 20whp gain .

the Hotside itself from changing from a 9.8 Hotside will get you about 10whp. and an increase on top end.

yeah, 05+ evo's = 10.5 hotside.

I would just change out the hotside and not worry about the rest of the turbo...the flapper design is different if you have an older evo also you will need more components than just the turbo for a swap.

If your goal is to make 400 whp, then get the green. Evo 9 turbo will not get you there, at least not as easily.

Like the guy above said, a 9 turbo will give you about a 20 whp increase. A 10.5 hotside alone about 5-10 whp. It depends on your other mods too.
