Smile Newbie says hello and seeks Evo friendly insurance :)

Hi there. My first post on this site so a big hello to everyone.

A quick newbie question: I'm about to buy a Evo 8 and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good insurance company with resonable rates?

This month I'll be 26 and I live in Chicago.

Thanks in advance!

Karl

"Progressive!! They give you their rate and those of their competitors." (Cue happy TV commercial music.)

Seriously, just shop around.

Hi Scooter thanks for the reply

I'm with progressive on the car I have now. When I went online I could only choose "Lancer" in the pull down and got a good quote. I suspect this is not for an Evo though. I could always give them a ring. I tried Geico and the talking lizard is having a laugh. ...soooo expensive. I also tried state farm and they weren't too bad and had a good policy. I was just wondering if there was a common trend amongst the Evo community for a company that offered good rates for Evo's in general.

Any body else got any recommendations?

The best you can do is just call around. If you got a good rate from state farm I would jump on it. They are pretty good.

Esurance was by far the cheapest for me. Michigan is a little different though.

This is all fairly new to me as I've only just moved to America from England. I been here since May and have held my Ilinois license since July. I have never had an accident or been issued with any sort of violation, I've always had insurance since I could drive at 17 and I live in a decent neighbourhood in a Chicago suburb.

Ok what would you say a good rate for 6 months coverage is?
Any guesses on what I should be paying? Just a rough figure or price range.

I want to get an idea before I start phoning around.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that but not all of us have the privilege of military benefits.

I'm sure some insurance companies are more Evo friendly than others if you know what I mean?

Excuse my ignorance but what's a FIG?.... I'm guessing something beginning with "F". Insurance. Group.?

Yes I got something similar to that... maybe a bit more but I thought that was very reasonable and they had a good coverage policy.

I am with State Farm and I only pay 80$ a month.

Goodluck on your search.
